So, India moved back and now the season finale....
Bahrain reinstated in Indias previous slot.
2013 engine rules open to delay.

Really not all that keen on the 2013 rules now.
Increase in minimum weight.
limited number of gear ratios
12k rpm limit
fuel pressure limit

How much slower are they going to be?
Being the subject of E-whinges since 2004 8)

Me too. Sounded like a good idea (turbo's) but they've gone and restricted then far too much to make it interesting, all in the name of making the sport more 'relevant'.
Lets hope they don't sound like the droning 1.8T engines in Formula 2

Hamilton throwing his toys again. He hadn't done that in while, I thought he was growing up. His interview with Mrs McKenzie was awkward to watch.

IMO Hamilton was in the wrong on both counts

Vettel's win, you could have called that strategy:D. He was clearly not pushing hard on his second stint. Saving tyres, driving well to keep Alonso behind (once he caught up) in the one place it were possible to overtake. As was mentioned the tyres were lasting 45-50 laps in practice with race loads, plus more rubbered in track and high possibility of a safety car(even though there haven't been many this year, typically have one in Monaco)... He could have made the 60 laps. Like Mr Rev says. I guess we will never know.

Although mistakenly they put the wrong tyres on. Maybe it was luck ;) OR "cough err we adjusted our STRATEGY and won the race on credit" WHO KNOWS! :D

No problems with Bahrain back in.
Delay is also good. Let the engineers have a think about it and give opinions without the pressure of the current and next season on them.
Always agree with an increase in minimum weight.
Wonder how many gears, 5 or 6. Hmm, the new engines will need to actually have torque and the drivers do more than just flick a paddle every 2 milliseconds
Rev and pressure limits. Is it too cheap and nasty to simply reduce the size of the gas tank and tell them that's all you get?

I like the idea of a new engine and a fuel limt and kers limt (dont know its new name), but I think after that it should be fairly go for it maybe maximum 6 cyclinders

Let see what they come up with it would be great to have a varity of engines on the grid

Dunno that I agree about the Bahrain decision. Seems foolish to shape new rules around being green and therefore more PC, and then go and race in Bahrain. Also, reading a couple of articles it seems like the teams get no real choice in the matter. I guess at the end of the day its all about the money, though I can't imagine the team's sponsors (with a conscience) will be stoked about it. That said, the ones without a one will love the extra coverage it gets when people use it to grandstand/government beats people down for using it to grandstand.

As far as I understand it, the 4 pot is confirmed, its just a matter of when. It will be interesting to see how long they delay it for, and they hold on to it before making changes.

I imagine PURE and Renault will be pretty annoyed, they seem to be the most advanced in the engine program department. They were probably counting on 2013 to start recouping costs. Mind you it never hurts to be able to get more development, or spread development costs over a wider period.

I can't see them allowing different configurations on the grid as it will just lead to added expenses from powertrain competition.

I don't really understand the increase in minimum weight, nor why it is a good thing. I guess the KERS battery pack/cooling will get bigger with the greater energy limits but the engine and fuel load will be lighter.

I took the gearbox limitations to mean that the number of gear sets will be limited, rather than a specific change to the number of gears. On top of this the boxed have to last more races. Always a good thing.

My guess on why they limit fuel pressure is that it directly limits performance. A limited fuel weight would perhaps allow teams to run a few laps at super high boost and then cruise to make up for the fuel use. I'm sure you can find someone knowledgable talking about it somewhere.

I have to say I think its a poor decision to go to Bahrain this year. We only hear one side of the story in regards to what its really like there at the moment too so dont believe too much about how its all back to normal, and everyone is happy again.

We will see over the next few days which sponsors(if any) have a problem with it and potentially threaten to have their logos taken off the car.

It pretty shocking to learn how bad it is when the stories do actually get out. i would like to think that the midget/FIA actually went on a tour of the place besides just hopping between various government ministries to get a balanced view. Sadly I think its probably not the case.

I'm picking that the major, 'modern' international sponsors that trade on brand image will pull, or at least make loud noises to save face. I'm thinking Vodafone, Red Bull, Red Bull & Cola. Other sponsors like AT&T and Santander, maybe on principal. Heck, maybe even Acer, the logo is in a pretty good place.

Come to think of it, Red Bull probably has the most to loose, and they can't even pull the stickers off to distance themselves from it.

At the other end of the field, at least HRT won't have to worry about anything :)

Another thing I just read that I completely failed to consider, what about all the people who made travel plans to see the inaugural f1 in India in October.

Of course none of this information gets on the F1 website, just a piece about how wonderful it is that Bahrain has been reinstated.

I actually think he might have done it on purpose, judging from the way he looks like he's waiting for it.
And theres no way you could miss one of those coming with the sound they make. Even if you were deaf, the noise would rattle the shit out of you!

So, Bernie is now saying the FIA is wrong and should reinstate India to it's original date. Webber reckons Bahrain won't happen, unofficially the teams are saying they won't go. Renault is saying they will quit F1 if the new engines don't happen as planned.

Shit storms all round really :P

Unless the teams unanimously agree to the date change, then it wont go ahead.

I think the FIA realise now that sending a delegate to Bahrain who can speak neither English, or Arabic to access the situation on the ground, wasnt the best idea.

Bernie has even u-turned so much to suggest that Bahrain should be moved to the end of the year in order to give the country as much time as possible to return to "normal" and that if it is still unstable then they wont run it.

Thats a far better idea than moving India to the end of the season and having everyone change plans.

On another topic, Renault are simply using the engine story as an excuse to do what they have always intended to do. They have sold off all of their team to investors over the past few years and are now simply acting in a management capacity at present. Renault? Lotus? Genii? Which is it? lol

Engine supply is seperate company now to the F1 team, the F1 team is pretty much owned by GenII ir who ever they have there loan with, Renault is holding onto the Engine supply bussiness

Hence if GenII/ Lotus run out of Money to pay Renault for there Engines they could be rocking a Cosworth
