I have just rebuilt my TRD clutch type LSD in the C52 gearbox in my race car.
I tested it before disassembly and it was 34 Lb-f , after fitting the new plates etc (thanks Mark) it is around 54 Lb-f . Is this enough for hill climbing , street sprints and track days ?

did you need to shim it up as well .does the fwd lsd come with a thin washer like coke can thickness
as they are std on the f series TRD lsd and from memory 120 foot lbs breaking strain as std ;we tested a brand new 1 to find out

There was just the new plates and the spring washers. I could shim it, but without knowing what is normal I figure that it was still working ok at the old setting and the new setting is 64% stronger.
So at this point I will probably put it back together and try it.

I would think 60ft lbs break away is fine. As you accelerate the plates will ramp and lock.

Webster, 60lb is probably about the delivery spec for your TRD LSD.
Coincidentialy I was discussing breakaway settings with Paul Black's father at Wairarapa last week. His Corolla uses the same C series kit that you'll have in the Starlet. They are shimmed up to 160lb.
In our own Corolla, which ran E series, we ran it at a little over 180lb from memory.
Both cars are of course gravel rally cars but do/did some tarmac work.
I imagine for a dedicated tarmac racer you might want to pull it back from those settings however personally I'd be running a bit tighter than what you have.

If your running it that tight, you should be running it in 2-way mode. Which would prob be better for rally.
Running that much initial torque, your defeating the purpose of 1.5 way...
How ever, once you apply throttle the plates are going to lock even if your down in 20ftlbs of initial pressure. If they dont lock then you need new plates!.

How do you shim it up if needed , shim material between the spring (Belleville) washer and the case ?
I try to stay away from the gravel except when servicing for mates rally cars
