AE101 Ceres rear brake pad replacement

Postby blindnz » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:45 pm

I have only ever done front pads before. whats the story with the hand brake. do i need a special tool to wind the piston back in? I usually use a C clamp or similar to push the piston back in.

I understand some rear pistons have slots in them to screw them back in, is this the case for ae101's or toyotas in general.

Just want to have all the tools before I start.

You can use pliers to turn the piston back, they're usually not too bad

And by pliers, I mean needle nose...dont try and grab the piston and wind it back  put the jaws of the pliers into the piston and wind it that way. You can buy a specific tool if you want, Powerbuilt do one fairly cheaply

You mean like a drum on the inside of the disc like altezza/falcons etc?
If so, not that I know of. Just disc or drum.
