AE110 - AE82 Brake upgrade?

Sorry if this is a reposted question but has anyone managed to fit AE110/111 brakes to a AE82?

Obviously don’t have ABS but will they bolt up without to much modification?

Searched it out and it looks like they wont fit under 14" wheels and require a few mods.

Looks like my solution maybe to run AE101 brakes as a simple bolt on upgrade that accommodate a 14” rim.

Gotta wonder if they are much better than the AE82 brakes VS just throwing some decent pads and fluid in.

AE82 brakes are rubbish and want a more modern stopping power!

New rotors, decent fluid and decent pads will do wonders. So much less work too. That said I don't know how good your brakes are, but I do know the difference good stuff makes compared to 10 year old standard stuff!

AE82 front discs are 243mmx18mm.

I would upgrade to the AE92 late model discs 258x22 using the caliper that goes with it.
However the offsets between the 2 hubs are the not same so some caliper spacing washers will be needed. I measured around 3mm difference from the drive flange face to the lug mounting points.

The ae101 discs are 255x22 but they have a center bore of 55mm therefore you would need to bore them out to fit a hub ring adapter so the disc can centralize properly.

AE101 has 2 sizes depending on wether its SuperStrut or not :)

Yes the Superstrut brakes are bigger 275x25mm
Center bore is still the same at 55mm

ae93 (aussie spec) run the same 54mm spigot as ae82 but the ae101/ae92 disk size. check the dba catalogue for specs. can run that disk with ae101 non superstrut caliper keeping the ae82 brake hose.

rear brakes can be swapped using the ae92 parts or a mix of ae92 and ae101 to get the larger disks. cant fit them to the std ae82 rear strut/upright due to caliper mounting differences.

i would recommend against running a non superstrut disc as they are thinner, hence will be not as effective at dealing with the heat but mainly if your pads get low or disintegrate you'll run the risk of the pads falling out. trust me this is not fun.

my old mans ae82 race car has twin pot calipers and 28mm thick discs. i'll be back in palmy end of the week and i'll check out how its set up and look for any receipts for discs etc and let you know.

the twinpot 275mm gze/superstrut brake upgrade requires the disk to be machined down in diameter not much bigger than the non superstrut. so unless you don't mind doing this to any replacement disks then fine.
The ae92/ae101 non superstrut is still an upgrade over the stock ae82 brake size. and it is noticeable in braking performance and mr wof inspector is none the wiser
