There's a bit of a run on hoods at the moment because after our final container at the end of this year, the price for shipping goes back to normal (normal means if you were to email STI / Vertex / Etc and ask to ship a hood here, you'd pay them the standard rates to go in a container). Normal shipping per hood from Japan is $1300+ (again, that is just the shipping cost on top of the hood price). Our shipping per hood is $350 (unless the hood is exceptionally large, heavy or thick). We're assuming we can get 5 hoods over the forums, so we will lock the price in. If we don't, our loss :'(
FRP
FRP Is often within 80% of the weight of dry or wet carbon. Start on or just under $1000 delivered.
FRP / Carbon
Carbon / FRP hoods use a Carbon hood and FRP skeleton. They are normally as light as full Carbon, cheaper than full carbon. Start over $1000 delivered.
Carbon
Carbon comes in 2 flavours primarily - wet (cheapest) and dry (expensive). Wet is around 95% the weight of a dry hood in most situations. Rarely they can be just over $1000, but are more likely to be $2000-$4000.

There are many, many brands who do hoods. If you let me know the type (FRP, Carbon) wanted, budget, preferred brands and style (WRC, T-Vented, Mid Vent, OEM and so on) I will hunt them down for you!
Hoods are tricky to ship in perfect condition. Shipping companies have and can crack them! If you buy direct overseas you'd not only pay more and pay an arm and a leg for shipping, you have no recourse if they're damaged. It's happened to us - the Shipping Co said "you can't prove it was us" and the manufacturer said "it shipped from us perfect". It was a no-win stalemate and it resulted in a $3000 bill out of our pocket - a refund, a replacement, extra air freight and 2 hoods going no where fast because of poor shipping or poor production! The moral was, the customer was 100% covered by us, despite it not being our fault at all!
