1jzgte and 2jzgte pistons/rods the same?

Postby Titties » Wed Jun 29, 2011 6:44 pm

heya,

i'm looking to purchase some pistons, rods and cams for a VVTi 1jzgte.

There are almost no listings for these items.

Are they the same as the 2jzgte?
e.g. eagle, JE and CP do not list a 1jzgte piston or rod.

Cheers, Mike

Bore is the same so a good chance the pistons are interchangeable.
I'm sure a JZ geek will know if the pin heights etc are the same.

The stroke and deck heights are completely different so rods will be different.

the crown or pin to top height is different in them, they can be used though, if you put 1J pistons into a 2J you will have higher compression, 2J into 1J you'll have lower compression

Yep 1jzgtes have squirters.

What kind of beans are you looking at making?

There's stock short block 1jz cars in the 10's, that's in a pretty heavy car too. So are you looking at making over 6-700hp?

something like these are the cheapest rod wise

I'd go head work, cams, decent ECU & turbo before cracking the bottom end open

I know it's not the same motor, but with the 3S motors the VVTI versions have a completely redesigned head compared to pre vvti, with a smaller combustion chamber.

Meaning pistons are incompatible between VVTI or non VVTI.

Might be something worth checking before buying some bits!
