Yeah, its always been the owners responsibility to keep their car up to WOF standards, and the police issue many tickets to cars with blad tyres while having a wof etc

In reality the only people who would be let off will be girls, and middle aged ladies as they will be presumed to not have known.

If you are a young guy, or a man who shows any remote knowledge of a car, you will be considered guilty on the spot for neglect, regardless of whether you knew or not.

But the letter of the law, it's your responsibility to keep it at WOF standard at all times.
Oh so they wont rip it off if you fail?

Apreciate that even with a valid wof can get pinged if you car is not up to wof standard - not disputing that.

If I ever fail a WOF I just keep the sheet with me in the car. You'll only ever get in trouble if you're looking for it / get a cop having a bad day.

I've never had a sticker taken off. Also never been pulled over during the time my wof has been 'invalid' while getting repairs done.

Pretty sure you're allowed to drive a car with no WOF for the purpose of repairs etc. So as long as you're actively getting it fixed I don't see a problem. Would depend what it failed on too I guess. "worn and about to split brake hoses" you wouldn't want to be caught heading to the beach with that

Sounds like a waste of money.

Rather actually put car thieves and drunk drivers in jail tbh.

this being the point of having the cameras. Now cops can spend more time catching car thieves and drunk drivers.
