I begin to think it's been bent too. What was the condition of the car it came off?

No idea, purchased off of Tardme.

I say Tardme rather than Trademe, as I'm now starting to feel a bit of a 'tard for buying it. Meh, $30...

I will be checking with the seller.

Actually, while I remember, did you ever find your cargo shield? Did it have any clips?

Cut 40mm out of the centre, put smaller pipe inside, fit brace to car, weld in position.

Well that's what i'd do, but I weld things for the hell of it, so my opinion is biased.

Finally got my s*** together and rang the guy I purchased it from - he got it 'off a mate" with a GTT, it wasn't known to have had any accidents... no idea at this point really, I might try and straighten it out to get the length right, will post what happens.

cars can flex alot. and to twist a car so much to get a brace to fit can only make more problems then good

some of the suzuki escudo's & vitara have factory strut braces on them, you'd be scared to see how much the mounting points move with the brace off.

Yeah they are often under tension when you fit them.
I'd say it's been bent. Bend it back.
I wouldn't be jacking one side or anything to try and fit it. And if you can get 10mm from doing that, but a new car 8O

My old 101 I think it was, when you took the brace off it would "spring" in and you'd have to use a little grunt to open it out to re fit it.

Fitted one to an AE111 and it slipped on without any fuss at all. But as they say I guess, if it doesn't fit force it. If it still doesn't fit your hammer isn't big enough!
