Re-Oiling after storing engine for a 18+ months

What are peoples ways of re-oiling a engine after sitting around for a year or two?

Ideally pressurising a container of oil and feeding into the oil system.

Kinloud has suggested a pressure cooker fed into the oil pressure sensor would be ideal.

you actually dont need to do much at all, alot of late model engines we have at work can sit around for upto 5 years before being sold. pull the plugs out, full the sump with oil, crank shit out of it to get oil around the place, put the plugs back in and fire it up.

So cranking on the starter with no plugs should see enough oil pressure?

Yep, it should build enough oil pressure off the starter alone, should take less than 10sec on a reguarly used motor, a little longer on one thats been sitting. You may want to take the rocker cover off and give the cam lobes etc a squirt before hand as well.

What I did was fill it up with oil, pulled all plugs and EFI, crank 5-10sec, drained oil (that cointained water)

and refilled with fresh oil and filter, idle for a while, drain milkshake.

refilled with oil filter again, ???, skidz!

you will wana put about a spoon full of oil into each cylinder down through the plug holes after you take them out and turn it over by hand 10 or so turns to get the cylinders and rings all oiled up then crank it over as strx7 has said

You can get a pressure pre luber, forces oil thru the galleries

The last one I used was air operated, have also heard of guys using oil suction pumps and adapting to 1/8bsp and screwing into oil pressure sender port

I am going to just spin over my oil pump until I get some flow around the place - only works with an external oil pump though.

you could put a rattle gun on the crank pulley with the plugs out if you wanted a noisy way to do it with no starter in place
