slipping auto?

OK, i have pretty much no reverse and hardly anything above second gear.
1st is fine and second is mostly ok.

Is this a sign that the auto is stuffed, or just a sign that something isnt correctly working (ie blockage in lines, filter etc)

Looking into options at the moment, including possibly converting to w57 while im in chch.

but if the auto can be sorted cheaply and quickly, then i might stick with it.

Smell the fluid to see if its burnt!

Was like when the transmission went in the work wagon. Suggestions are that nissan eeither didnt fill with correct fluid or didnt hook a solenoid up properly or at all

I had very similiar symptoms and the problem was i filled the tranny (after draining) without the engine running, checked it with the engine running and it was below the low marker on the dip stick.

filled to the correct level and it was good as new again

Mine was like that, I had to put about 12 litres through it by draining and refilling (and driving a little bit to mix it up)

it was good for the first 100kms, then slipping as per the old trans. got worse and worse as i got further down the island

I just sold my W55, I have two R154 pressure plates and that brass button clutch and the old release bearings and carriers if you go the R154 route on the cheeps
