Advice for the swift of FURY!!!

Postby dnalunchie » Wed Aug 17, 2011 12:30 pm

Hey all

Most of you will know that I have an old swift which I use as a daily and a standing joke to amuse the Dunedin TS'ers

So anyway the car had been running like a sack of poo recently and I found out that the hose which flows water to the choke had been blocked so the choke had been on 100% of the time causing crappy running and INSANE fuel economy (150kms to 25Ltrs)

So anyway now that it has been fixed it is running amazing, totally different car really. So now I dont feel so reluctant to spend some money on the car. I figure even after I buy something cool when I graduate next year having a reliable 2nd car is always a good idea.

So the only thing I need to buy now is a new battery, I want something nice and reliable, what would you guys recommend ?

Repco or something?

What sort of $ should I expect considering the car is only a 1.3ltr. I want to buy a brand new one as I have had a couple bad experiences with the 2nd hand ones

Cheers

Ben

Repco/wherever. Show em what you've got and tell them you want another one. Wouldn't bother with anything special for something like that. Hell my MR2 has had a battery from The Warehouse in it for as long as I can remember

Wait till there is a special on at supercheap / repco / warehouse. I just got an exide one from warehouse for $140 2 year warranty. Would have waited for a special if I didn't need it to get to tech :x

I always have to laugh and then cry a little when I read comments like the above.

If I'm careful I can stretch my offroader tank to 250kms.

... the tank is 130 litres.

RedMist: did you include vertical distances in your milage... I'm sure including vertical travel would about double the distance you travel :)

i presume dunedin is the same as auckland - our local repco batteries are all supplied by century, just different stickers AFAIK. (same goes for giltrap city toyota too hah) if you are friendly with someone in the trade there are actually some decent margins on batteries these days so you could possibly make a bit of a saving there.

we stock century at work and never had any problems.

i hope that was a 13 plate sized battery????

find your nearest stockist of SuperCharge batteries. for a little 9 plate sized battery you should be paying around $110-120 with a 2 year warranty
