Ah right, so you're using the original calipers still. Gotcha.

So what's the modification then? Large diameter or thicker? If they're larger diameter disks your balance will still have shifted forwards.

Weird you are having issues with FMG, as they were the only ones who would insure anything that i own that is modified (hell of alot more mods than what you are listing) for a reasonable price, and have done for over 10 years.

Sounds like your age and or insurance history are counting against you.

So logic says they'll become a small player, and at greater risk of failing in the future, due to a smaller customer base.
Tower have already stated they are looking at buying AMI (well their policies anyway).

I can see what you're saying, but don't completely agree. Problem is, getting insurance is not so easy down here. I'm with AMI, and have recently signed up for another year. I never even bothered looking for other options as to be fair, they have been good by me and the chance of getting insurance elsewhere is slim due to quakes.

The day (if) Tower take over I will for sure be looking at my options if they change anything.

I'm sure you're right about some people jumping ship. Where they have jumped too I don't know, probably bailed on CHCH all together.

Anyway, I forgot this was about car insurance, carry on with the proper topic

19 with mods will not usually end happily.... for you :P I have similar mods and am over 25 but most companies don't want to know me. If anything my mods have just made my car slower. Meh. You could try Toyota Insurance. Not sure on the age cut off these days, but i've been with them for a while now. Mods all declared, i'm sure if I did anything else at all to the car i'd be shown the door.

Yep all major banks offer all sorts of insurance. Think National's is thru Vero. Can sometimes get a good discount if you got a few accounts and other business with them. Got my caldina throught Westpac and was by far the cheapest out of all i tried with minimal excess on full insurance. I am staff tho
Worth a try thru your bank tho, got nothing to lose by checking with them.

Toyota Insurance would probably cover you... Till you mod it more :P

They cancelled my policy when I told them EVERYTHING done to the car. When I first got the car it had lowered springs, mags + exhaust, I was 20 with clean record. It became too much of a risk (mods were worth over 50% of the value of the car) for them.

That is reason enough to actually take out policies with them.

The way this government is playing its cards is that if your business is too big to fail, they will prop you up, because the fallout from vote....I mean customers would be messy.

AMI are quite keen on new policies at the mo...the fact that they even considered this is pretty crazy, but I have been with them for 12 years...

Can't really just go off those two examples.

Looonie's partner may have a bad driving record, be under 25, bad insurance record etc. Plus are A3's expensive or cheap to repair? All those factors need to be considered.

Next thing you'll be saying is that 12 years of history with an insurance company might help in their case...
