GAS Motorsport Celica kicking butt...

Though someone somewhere might be interested, the GAS Motorsports (ex-Titan Motorsport) Celica ran a 6.72 @ 212mph at the bracket meeting at WSID this afternoon. They have backed it up with a 6.74@210mph!

Heat Treatments and Rayglass are going to have their work cut out for them at this rate!

Problem is I think they want that 6.40 and they now must have a handle on that 2000 plus HP motor they have now.But a good result anyways.

I reckon once Heat Treatments and Rayglass get there cars fully together you'll definitely see 6s but how deep into the 6s well we'll have to wait and see.Also I reckon to get there best times and traps they'll have to go race on those Aussie tracks as it seems that they are alot better than ours.

Agreed, I don't think Rayglass will be able to beat GAS now - however I think Heat Treatments (on Oz soil) will be one to watch. The 6.4 Titan ran in the states is completely mind boggling...

What I think we have to realise is that the Rayglass car is probably 5-6 years old now and they'll be 500 plus HP less than Rayglass and Heat Treatments so I'm thinking about a high 6.8-6.9 will probably be there lot but still real quick.

Absolutely - no one is saying Rayglass is crap and I think a high 6 is going to be doable with it. At the end of the day the Titan - Sorry GAS car is a newer more developed car and the Heat Treatments car is the latest of everything. By all rights the Heat Treatments car may well have it in it to be a world record setting car, but we can only know when it all comes to pass.

Loosely on the topic, records are/were getting set in the states but the NOPI season has been cancelled..... bit of a bummer and hopefully not a sign of the times.

A few years down the track, and Rayglass took the world sport compact record with a 6.406 @ 221mph - then today, not to be out done GAS Motorsport busted out a 6.38 @ 223mph!!!!!

Jamboree is going to be epic this year!

This record is no surprise to me basically its how much faster can they go Titan's 6.40 stood for about 5 years and the only reason GAS got into them as they had Titan's backing from the start with regards to moving there brand down under.i think theres about 5-6 6 sec. JZ powered cars in Aus now.

Man I've been a fan for over a decade of this motor I remember getting laughed at back then now all of a sudden every 2nd drifter and his dog is repowereing Nissans with JZ's man I have a good chuckle to myself.

Is that a wastegate on the intercooler or just a BOV that looks like one? I have never seen one that looks like that before. Nor can I find one that looks like that.

I have noticed a few 'serious' drag set ups are running a WG on the intercooler tract. Maybe they use it to regulate boost before the turbo to help exhaust flow?

Now I look closer I can see the BOV just before the last bend near the TB. Now I'm really confused.

Edit: Did some googling and it makes some sense now. Instead of controlling boost with the exhaust gas you control it with the intake air. Keeps the turbo spinning at full speed. Makes sense when you are only running less than 7 sec passes.
