quick sc14 boost question

Postby gleem » Thu Sep 08, 2011 8:51 pm

been trolling google and cant find a solid answere.

on a 4agze with a 12 psi crank pulley for sc12. if i put a sc14 on what will the boost be?

aslo with the same size charge pulley on a sc12 if it was put on a 14 im assuming the boost will increase?

thanks

If you are using the SC14 factory clutch which is larger diameter than the SC12 clutch, even with the 12 Psi pulley it will be making less psi than the SC12, likewise if the SC14 supercharger has a SC12 clutch on it, it will be making the same psi if not less psi than a SC12.

If the SC14 and SC12 are spun at the same rpm they would both produce the same psi but the SC14 would produce a larger volume of air.

Well thats my understanding of it anyways.

What is the diameter of the SC14 clutch from the tops of the "VVVV"s??

mine ran 18psi all the time. I eventually got a link though because theres only so much you can do on the standard ecu

When I did a conversion using the SC12 pulley on the SC14 (so the belts fit and you can get the offset right) it ran 16psi.
The stock SC12 ran 12psi.

Following basic physics (which i will probably be wrong about but) presumably a larger volume of air would = more pressure?

pressure is based on there being a restriction
if you are running a pulley to increase charger speed or a larger charger it is just backing more air up aginst the intake as the engine cannot inhale any more flow so pressure goes up but as pressure increases a slight increases in flow from the pressure differential is obtained

porting, exhaust work, cams and the like increase engine flow and so decrease boost pressure
