New Lexus Super Sedan V8 Supercar?

Pretty cool looking new lexus v8 super sedan doing the laps of the ring. Could this be the base for the rumoured lexus/toyota entry into v8 supercars, and other touring car series ie DTM

Regardless I want one. It looks good, and has the performance to match, without being over the top with spoilers, vents and wings.

I've seen that aswell on Lexus Enthusiast, straight up M5 C63 autobahn slayer if if ever I saw one..What is it 640 HP 520 odd ft/lbs of torque.I don't think they mentioned what gearbox they would use maybe a beefed up variant thats in the IS-F.

I like where Toyota are going with this new F-Line of cars looks like exciting times ahead.

Whether it happens or not is debatable, but I for one, would LOVE to see toyota enter the Oz V8 touring car series.

I absolutely love the series as it is, but adding a Toyota to the bill would finally give me a manufacturer to cheer for as I only supprt drivers currently.

History says though, that whenever another manufacturer threatens the old dino pushrod v8 dominace, the ruling body manages to get rid of them fairly quickly, some way or other.

I say go back to the good old days with multiple classes running on the same track. 4 cylinder turbos, 6's, v8's, rotaries, hybrid? ;)

Oh that is decent. I'd prefer a vent free bonnet though.

Oh sorry I'll go away and tell ford and GM hq's that they don't need to bother with their aussie offshoots anymore, cause revy said they don't need to make models to base race cars on anymore. Must also tell V8 supercars that revy thinks there rules are dumb, and they need to remove the need to base race cars on 4 door rwd sedans

Obviously its not a race car, but I wondered if it get to production, and it comes to Aus/NZ, if they would base any v8 supercar entry on this bodyshell, and engine combination, with a similar type of kit for v8 racing.

 I thought you meant that actual car was a v8 or dtm car.

BMW are interested. But it rested on them being able to use their new DTM car which I can't see happening. I still wouldn't bet against Toyota having a go one day.

I thought the car of the future or whatever they're calling it meant bmw and audi, merc etc could basically use the majority of the dtm car, but there were differences in body kit, suspension, wheels, and brakes.
So the idea was that you build a bodyshell and cage, and then put the respective parts on it for supercars or dtm.

Would love to see Lexus and Audi get into the game. Perhaps both could try the new V8 supertourers here first and see how they compare, and then move to the big boys in aus in say 2-3 years, or even at the same time as the other teams move to COTF, after all theres no better time than to join a sport than when there's a level playing feild for everyone.

I would have thought if Lexus were tohave a crack at V8SC's they'd use the IS-F for sure as that already uses a 5.0 V8 and I'm pretty sure the could cohearse more grunt out of that.

I've lost track of what the new V8 rules will be.

The DTM and SuperGT rules are for a common chassis cell and all cars built from that.

Current engines in V8s are restricted to 5 litre pushrods with around 700 HP.

With the expansion overseas I really can't see it staying a 2 make series for much longer.

Single (lumpy) cam, not many valves, but a shit load of fun.

When you think about how old the technology is now, it so impressive that they get the numbers they do out of them, and with relatively few catastrophic engine failures through the year.

Tried and true engines, not that I'm that much of a fan of them. They should let other classes of cars race with them.

People seem to forget that V8SC is not a case of blocking everyone else so they have a chance at touring car class but rather a whole new series with different rules.

I remember the old days of touring cars, nissan mobil 500 & Rothmans 500, wgtn street race and the pukekohe round, and yes the fords and commodores were in there too but that series died a natural in Australasia and in its place the V8SC series was born. They are exclusive series not one that turned into the other. The series is always keen to welcome other marques but they must fit to the V8SC rule book and that is where discussions break down (AFAIK)

In reality if toyota wanted to join in the fun they would probably have to build a non production wider/longer rwd version of a camry then throw an old toyota century V8 to meet the basic requirements and for the costs involved its probably of no interest to toyota/lexus, DTM on the other hand, head to head with bmw/audi/merc.....
