Should I buy this...

Well fate always interupts and offers me something out of the blue.

For 75,000 pounds I can buy a a fully airworthy BAE strike master jet attack aircraft. EX-RNZAF was purchased by the MOD for UAE supply but never was accepted into service.

Should I spend the money and use it in the mean time before the P-40 is finished or should I save my money??

It will be $8,874.36 to import and permit it in NZ.

i dont know why, but ive always been a fan of the strike master. Possibly because i grew up with them flying in my backyard.
A skyhawk wouldve been badass, but yeah id rock a strike master. Although in saying that. A p40 would also rock my boat.

The P-40 will be approx $70,000 all up. This is a very rough estimate as some items maybe cheaper some much more expensive
2) Every year a plane must pass a WOF style test and the engines will need rebuilding etc once every 12 months or so I say on a 1975 plane.
3) Hobby, I fly cause its my hobby. Much like you guys and cars. Nothing better then flying thru the sky with nothing but you and a few birds.
4) I would not stop the P-40, I have just recently sold my previous plane and am looking at getting one to use while the project is underway, once the p-40 is complete maybe either keep both or sell the strikemaster. The strikemaster is a jet, the p-40 is a prop, I do love the sound of a prop, the strikemaster is a lot quicker.
5) parts are easy to find thru the old boys network.

Skyhawks are on the Do not trade list as theyare military equiptment, while its easy to find they you can export outside the USA.

The p-40 is a long term project so dont expect it to be ready tomorrow. Give me 3 years to finish it.

i thought it was the american avionics that made the skyhawks hard to sell, not their "military" status. The new buyers had to be approved by the us.

Keeping with the project car parallel.. I know a lot of people who had project race cars who wish they had gotten something to continue to race in while they were working on their projects.

So my advice would be if the P40 is going to take 3 years (and the $$ don't bother you), and you've just sold your existing plane, then go for it and get this (or some other flying machine) to keep your passion alive while you are working on the project.

The point was there would be far better forums to get advice on the topic, from people who actually know about the plane, rather than asking here where 99% of users probably only know what the plane looks like after a quick google image search lol.
