2ZZ-GE Hondata Heat Shield Gasket

Postby reliable » Sat Oct 22, 2011 5:21 pm

HI Guys,

Just installed a Hondata IM Gasket, and thought I would let you know how it went.

The top left intake stud ended up being too short with the Hondata Gasket.
- this was solved by grinding 2mm off the nut bringing the thread closer to the edge.

The dip stick bracket no longer bolted up to the plenum
- solved by re-drilling the hole in the bracket

Triangle bracket at the throttle body end of the manifold did not line up again due to the thicker gasket.
- again simply re-drilled the holes in the bracket.

Bolt holding the bottom of the plenum to the crank case no longer lined up.
- Seems like all the american guys on other forums just leave this out, so I did to.

So all in all not a straight swap but easy enough! If you are thinking of doing this and have any questions I'm happy to help.

I also did this in conjunction with a throttle body bypass. And have noticed definite gains in throttle response.

To me it is definitely worth it and I would do it again.

Questions welcome.

Thanks for the question.

Sorry should have been clearer. I meant throttle body coolant bypass.

In case your wondering, normally coolant is passed through the throttle body to stop it from icing up in sub zero temps. The down side is this heats up the intake charge resulting in less power and response. In a warmer climate like where I live this is unnecessary.

Now combined with the Hondata Gasket I can fang around for ages and my whole intake manifold feels about 40c - 50c instead of burning hot like usual.
