Glow plug issue

Postby gleem » Mon Oct 24, 2011 3:56 pm

Finally got my camry sorted since water went through the entire fuel system. I had to replace all glow plugs at the time. Cars stars perfectly now but the glow plug light goes out and the 5 or so seconds later it comes back on and stays on.

My question is can i disconect the wire to them and put it back when i get around to fixing the issue?

by wire you mean the 12v feed to the actual plugs?

you can, but it'll make it a bitch to start.

did you use the correct glow plugs?

Usually if the glow light flashes it is wrong plugs, or a bad temp sensor?

But leaving the wire off the plugs wont affect much
except possibly wear the starter out trying to get it to start.

yes matched the ones that were in there, and tested them, the first one get orange hot in a matter of seconds ( closest to the wire ) than the other 3 are connected by a metal bracket. The end one gets hot when earthed but not orange which is a bit strange

Yeah as they should all heat to the same amount at thge same time.
There will be a current sensing piece in there somewhere too probably.
