Ive got a set of 33mm? Imec ramtubes inside the plenum of my blacktop. Havn't had it on a dyno to see if there were any gains or losses but *the butt dyno* says it feels better from 5000-8000 RPM

Or is it worse below and giving a false impression by suddenly coming right?

And that Sir is almost certainly the case.

Could well be but untill I can find some proof OR do some back to back dyno runs myself I will continue to grin all the way to 8000 RPM :D

Butt dyno - pretty deceptive.
The apparent big power boost is almost always the engine just digging it's way out of a big hole in the torque curve.

Look on my video - gen3 3sge on the dyno with a short runner intake (about 1/3 length of standard one).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBzpnuE_oyM
At about 2.12 you can see the huge dip in the midrange torque and power with this intake. Also down on top end power.
Driving it it felt like a huge power boost at about 5000rpm but it was just the torque increase back to near normal!
About 1 second per lap slower at the old taupo track.

Ken
I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

similar thing in my ST165, even though I gained 15kW at top and over 25kW at 4000rpm compared to previous tune, it feels a lot flatter now.

+1 to the above.

My car felt faster when it had 20hp less, and a HEAP less low end due to airflow meter issues.

It's funny how well setup race engines feel timid when compared to something with a huge torque hole in the power band. My 4age race engine was cammed to hell, felt strong below 5k then just a small push to 8800rpm.
Whereas engines with torque holes always demonstrate strong "butt dyno" results with little real world results.

I *love* deceptive/solid acceleration, the only catch to it is that (I've modified/tuned a few cars which have ended up with very linear pulls) people come out of them seeming almost like they reckon you are BSing them on the power figures, not that it really matters as typically the same cars will often end up equal to or quicker than more dramatic setups :)

One of the more frustrating cases for me was when we used some dyno time to tune a mates Mazda Lantis, we managed VERY substantial midrange torque gains by playing with the engagement of the variable resonance chambers in the intake manifold and got quite decent overall power figures for it for a little NA V6.... the owner had basically undone everything we did with that tune by the following weekend due to being convinced it was slower than it was prior to tuning, and went a step further and replumbed (now he knew how to do it after we'd sussed it out on the dyno) them so that they worked almost as inefficiently as they possibly could, giving the car a terrible flat spot. At least it felt dramatic for 500rpm of the rev range! :x

I hope you disowned them as a mate.....

No airbox, but filter socks on my Levin gave me a sweet noise and torque steer @ 7000rpm. Would have been interested to see how messed up the power curve was! For that half a second or less, the car felt faster.

Really bad turbo selection and/or installation.

My V6 turbo race engine pulls almost peak boost from 2700RPM (a little boost creap at 7500RPM) with two GT2871r's. It's currently pulling only 610whp on only 16PSI (IAT's too high). So if you're spooling at 4500RPM, you've got some serious issues.
