But it seems to be a persistent rumour, and given Kimis attitude at the last rally I'm going to say it is quite possible.
Maybe in Williams he has found a team that won't be as high profile appearance wise and if they put the right things together they can be on the way up. Maybe.

To me the fact that neither party has come out denying this rumour at any stage suggests there may be truth to it?

I don't really understand the move to be honest unless its a stepping stone for him to move onto one of the big 3 I really don't see the point of Raikkonen heading to Williams.They just have'nt produced anything in F-1 in how long I can't recall but I'm sure someone will remind me.

Yeah that would be the only reason for it IMO. I have heard that if Kimi does go to Williams, Williams will get a rather large sponshership deal from Qatar (Williams have just opened a Technology center there as well http://www.f1technical.net/news/13669). If it does happen, its work out nicely for both partys, and TBH, Williams in particular have nothing to loose, they get a huge amount of cash they wouldnt otherwise be getting, as well as tons of puclicity by having one of the most popular drivers in recent years on the team.

End of next year there could be a couple of top seats openening up. Mark Webber at Red Bull, Hamilton at McLaren, if he managed to show he still has the speed, he could perhaps squeeze into one of those slots.

But then, knowing F1, Barrichello will probably be announced as Williams driver for next year. Theres been so many Kimi rumours ever since he left that its hard to really believe any of them.

2004 with JPM winning at Interlagos is the last Williams victory, from memory.

We were all talking about this Kimi to Williams rumour a few weeks back, and I recall we all agreed that it just doesnt make any sense on any level.

Kimi is the sort of driver that wont put in the extra effort to develop the car further up the grid, and even if Frank Williams managed to extract the huge sponsorship needed from the middle east to cover Kimi's wages, I jusf cant see his performances being anything other than lack lustre, given his previous history when given a car that isnt able to complete for a podium. Now he will be given a car that he will be thankful to get into Q2 with (No fun and the same reason he isnt enjoying rallying)

I cant see him looking at it as a stepping stone either as none of the big teams would sign him now, knowing what they do about his character.

Oh well, I will be happy to see him back as I have always been a fan of his style, I just hope hes not coming back just to refill his bank account from 2 seasons of WRC crashes he has endured.

Anywaaaaaays....Im fizzing looking forward to FP1 and FP2 later today, 2 DRS zones and wide corner entries are going to make overtaking attempts even more possible.

I must admit to being a big Williams fan over the years, just due to them being the only true privateer team left on the grid. Frank and Patrick have got grit and determination beyond that of most.

2014 Williams/Renault with Kimi as World Champion? It would be GREAT for the sport, and hey...far stranger things have happened

Maybe Kimi sees it as a challenge. See how well he can do in a sub par car.
Constant results above what the car should be able to do will be clear confirmation of his skill. Which will open further doors, and also satisfy his ego a little.

Hmmm maybe, but Im not convinced.

He showed alot of examples to anyone paying attention that he isnt as committed to F1 as I think we all agree that you need to be, to be at the front of the grid these days.

His talent and sheer speed are not in doubt, but unless something big has changed in his way of going about his job, then his ability to build the team and develop the car, will be "sub optimal" (Ronspeak) imho.

Anyways, having another world champion on the grid is great, no matter how its looked at. 6 world champs in one field doesnt happen in many sports so lap it up while we can I say

I think the new rules and regs would suit him though. He always said he would have loved to race back in the days where you could actually race wheel to wheel, instead of the procession that modern F1 had become when he left.

Still, wont believe it till theres a announcement from Williams, but be great to see him back if it does all play out, I am a Kimi fanboi at heart, and dont really have one driver at present who I cheer for.

Just hope he isnt going to be shit if he does come back.

You are right there, the new rules will suit him better as he likes to intimidate the others on track and you can certainly do that when you are looming up in someones mirrors carrying 40kph more lol

2 years out is a while though, and the new tyres will take a bit of learning, where as the other drivers have had 38 weekends worth of data gathering.

He was always pretty quick to adapt to change though so its not an insurmountable task.

I hope if he does return, he doesnt sanitize his return to suit Williams sponsors etc, I still want to see him falling over on his boat, in Monaco, tanked to the eyeballs on Vodka lol

That cracked me up that time he crashed in Monaco, and instead of going back to the pits, he jumped the fence and got on the piss with his mates on his boat instead.

My favourite memory of Kimi would have to be his quali lap at Spa where the car ahead had blown up through Eau Rouge/Radillion and obscured the entire track in smoke, and Kimi just crossed his fingers, kept his foot to the floor and went right through the middle of it.
