Need Ideas for something to put my vvti 1jz into (gx71?)

Postby Brawler » Sun Oct 30, 2011 4:35 pm

HI!

So Plan was to put the 1jz and W55 set up into a Celica XX. Have a factory F series lsd for it too, but my diff subframe is a bit worse for wear, So I have decided I don't want to do the swap into the celica.

I can easily get a GX71 shell and go down that road, Im just wondering what it would be like as a street car, are they a very good platform to go on?

What shell would you recommend for my 1jzgte?
zing! Sig got nuked. Sorry bout that.

Don't think you would have much luck shoe horning a 6 cylinder engine into a fraser, engine bay is just not long enough with the inboard shocks.

for reference here is a beams 3sge shoe horned in one.

Other 7 replicas you might get lucky and fit it in.. (my Mcgregor has a bit of room in the front as shown below) but gets taken up quickly with remote oil filter, airbox, steering rack and other random bits

GX71 is a pretty typical 80s japanese sedan. in other words, a bit shit. perfectly fine for thirsty daily driver / skid hack, it all depends what ya want out of it i guess.

My 2jzgte is just as thirsty as the orginal 1geu (unless your pushing it of course).

the VVTI JZs are a bit tricky to make work in non-ABS cars if your keeping the factory ECU. They like to get signals from the dash and ABS but there are ways around it.
