Chopping into panels (What are the legalities?)

Postby MrOizo » Fri Nov 04, 2011 8:40 pm

I am looking at routing my piping in the areas below.

Blue: Filter to turbo
Red: From turbo to intercooler to intake
Green: Proposed holes to pass the piping through.

What are the legalities with a modification like this?

Don't touch anything until you've taken the car in to see your local LVV certifier ... don't listen to e-wisdom.

all the cars iv had certed had to have a very tight hole where the pipes went through. like 5-10mm bigger diameter than the pipe, had to weld up multiple holes lol.

but yeah go spin a yarn to your cert man

And the rules on what is structural have changed in the last couple of months so half the people who tell you they know online wont know what they're talking about too.

So yeah, see your cert guy :)

As above, see cert guy, but I know your car won't get a WOF if you cut anything around that front support panel, hell you can fail a WOF for chopping up a factory plastic bumper now (though it's fine to have an aftermarket front kit chopped up WTF).

So will def need a cert.
