Bringing a car out of hibernation

Hey so in a month or so I'm reviving the Supra after having it in storage for a year.

What things should I be wary of when I'm starting it up for the first time?

Any tips on easing it back to life after such a long time sitting?

I'd have thought fresh fuel in the tank, drain whatever old stuff is in there just for peace of mind. Check oil is in good condition and tyres have proper pressure in. Not sure if you'd have any brake issues but may pay to check the brake fluid hasn't got any water in it. It is hygrscopic which means absorbs moisture but if it's been in dry storage this may not be an issue

Yeah new fuel
Change oil
check coolant condition
check tyres are not flat spotted!
check brake fluid/bleed
check air cleaner for rats :lol:

If you have ability, take out spark plugs and disconnect injectors, give it a good crank for ~30 seconds. Then it should be safe to start normally.

remove any surface rust on the flywheel by side-stepping the clutch @ 6000rpm 8)

wouldn't hurt to give the fuel lines a once over to make sure nothings come loose or leaking too.

also helps with the previously mentioned flat spotted tyres

make sure you check for rats and that the brakes (front at least) work well first though

then you will need to siddstep le clutch at 7500 rpm

i wouldn't even worry about new gas. disconnect crank/cam trigger crank over, get some oil pressure up, connect triggers hit the key, run thru the gas that is in the tank and dont boost it hard until you have fresh petrol in it

Nah won't be as there is nothing to back up his claim.
Whereas anyone with even a passing knowledge of fuels will know petrol loses it's volatility with age
