Caldina GT-T coolant sensor wiring ( transplant)

I need some help with the wiring on the coolant temp sensor on the 3sgte... it has 3 wires on it.. the white (to ecu) and brown(earth) I understand, but there is a third wire (yellow/green) ??? My thoughts were that it may be for the cluster gauge, but it is not shown on the wiring diagram I have... help please...

yup, i think so... the corolla and corona EWDs i have shows a Yellow-Green wire going to the temp gauge.
