91 cressida cruise control

Postby whynot » Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:38 pm

I have been working on getting the cruise control working on the cressida after it has had an engine transplant. (7m to 1j). i believe there is one wire that is causing me grief. it is pink and light blue labeled O/D on the ecu and goes straight to the cruise control ecu and I have no idea what kind of signal it needs as there is no O/D terminal on the 1jz ecu (its not over drive thats od2)
to the best of my knowledge the cruise control was working before hand and the only thing touched is the wiring to the ecu
Does anyone know what this wire is for or how to diagnose the cruise control ecu to see what is stopping it working?

it depends what your motor and ecu came out of:

jza70/jzx81: (ect would be what your after here i think plug "T" pin 18 )

jzz30/jzx90: (od1 and od2 clearly visible here)

the diagrams clear up a few of the abbreviations on the other drawings I have but it's not my ecu. mine is a jzx80 with a 1jzge and has a few less wires.

Are there any common faults to be looking out for? The previous owner reckons it did work before the engine swap but you never know for sure.

jzx81 you mean no such thing as a jzx80, only lx80, sx80, yx80

back on topic i dont think the 1jzge jzx81s had cruise control, ive had 3 jzx81s all with 1jzge and none had cruise control or abs or traction control or anything flash.

might have to either trick it into working or give up.

cant find any pinouts for 1jzge either but id say theyd be the same as the jzx81 1jzgte minus some of the pins/options

My SW20's cruise control has it's own control unit and is completely separate from the engine ECU. It gets it's speedo signal from the dash.

the cruise control was with the 7mge. it does have a stand alone ecu for it but the hard part is figuring out signal the 7m ecu sent to it and then re creating it with the 1jz ecu. if I figure it out I tell you how I did it but at the moment it looks like no one else has bothered to do it
