It wasn't half hearted, he was well alongside with the inside line, then backed out of it.
I think if it had been anyone other than Massa he might well have just held his place and not backed off. he had positioned his car in such a way as to deny it to Massa....

Looking at it more, Hamilton deifinitly had the line into the corner, and had it been against someone else, most likeley would have held it and it would have been a clean pass. But given the history between the two of them, neither of them trust each other, so both were hesitant, which I think ultimately caused the crash, neither of them were decisive in there action, and kinda pussy footing around each other.

For me Hamilton was the one that should have backed out of it Massa had no where else to go,if Massa backs out of it he doesn't make the corner and would have had to have gone straight and with that set of corners having only one racing line I really think the stewards got that wrong but oh well it didn't matter as Massa took himself out of contention with the mistake that he made running over the orange part of the curb causing his own parts failiure.

I found Jackie Stewarts thoughts on alot of the issues in F-1 today very insightful during Quali 1 last night especially his thoughts on the Massa v Hamilton incidents,Testing and Raikkonen's re-entry into the sport.

Agreed, I always love hearing Jackies opinions on things.

The bbc free practice sessions are great, always good guests, and LOADS of info about new parts being tested etc.

Vettel in the wall for the 3rd FP1 this year, and the sulking spaniard too. Clearly the track was getting slippery once the sun set, and going up onto the kerbs under braking is never going to help.

Fingers crossed the DRS actually works here as its been a procession the past years.

I think their aim is to team up in 2014 when the new engine formula comes in. From memory, they still have a year left to honour in their contract with Mercedes.

It wouldnt really benefit either party doing one year with the 2.4 ltr v8 either.

Cant wait for Interlagos this weekend, as sad as it will be for the season to end, its always a great race, with very passionate fans too. One of the faster tracks too so it will be interesting to see if Mercedes can claw into the top 3 teams a little more before the curtain drops.

Well, Vettel sets new pole record.
Has a gearbox issue allowing Weber past for his first and only win of the season. then sets several fastest laps... Anyone else a little suspicious? :lol:

Button secures 2nd over the Sulky one. Good.
And Sutil looked like the Sutil of old!

The end of a great season of racing, even if it was dominated by RBR, it was still far better than most recent seasons, as far as wheel to wheel racing goes. The DRS and KERS, while not to everyones taste, certainly spiced things up a bit. Pirelli certainly player their part too, and now with 1 season under their belt, I would expect to see more stable tyres in 2012.

Very much looking forward to March next year to see what affect the banned EBD has on the front runners, and what new tricks everyone comes up with. The off season, while shorter than ever before, is still too long lol

And now, we wait....

Just bought my plane tickets today for the Melbourne Grand Prix! Bring on the start of next season! If anyone is keen Air NZ has some good prices at the moment from Welly and Auck to Melbourne.

What did you pay if you dont mind saying? And how many days either side are you going?

The convicts know how to put on an awesome 4 days of entertainment with many classes of racing. You will love it.

Are you doing general admission of grandstands?

$817.64 for two of us. 13th to the 21st March (Tues to Wed). Staying with family there so a big cost is gone. Not too sure. Thinking general admin for the first 3 days and a grandstand for the race. Have you been? What would you suggest for the first time?

Definitely get grandstand with a view of the big screen for the race.
Otherwise you won't see stuff all unless you get there very very early.

This!

The two times I went we were in the grandstand at the first corner, had 3 screens in memory with easy sight. Without, you really have no idea whats going on. Still the first thing I did both times once I got home was watch it on TV as theres still so much you miss.

If you havent been before, be prepared to be absolutely gob smacked at how fast and loud they are (and how slow and shit everything else is after them), TV does not do it any justice what so ever!

Just putting some emphasis on loud, because you can't imagine how loud they are till your there.

Me and the GF are going over for 10 days to watch it again, first time for the GF, second for me.

I went last year and bought GA tickets for all 4 days, as I didnt want to be stuck to one spot for the entire race. I wanted to be on the exit of turn two for the start of the race as theres a BIG screen opposite, and then planned to go over to the chicane on the back straight, for the middle section, then the the second to last corner for the end section, before running to the podium.... but one of the people I went with broke their toe on the friday so we ended up staying put the whole race lol

As already said, regardless of where you sit, make sure that there is a big screen in close proximity so you can keep tabs on it. And on the days you have GA, make it your mission to walk the entire track so you can see the cars on all sections of the track. Sure they are amazingly fast, and the downforce through corners is stunning, but its the braking that impresses me most. Oh and the smell.

P.S Take a good set of ear plugs with you and enjoy ;)

Well grandstands are pretty much sold out... Unless I get one for all 4 days. Might just run with your suggestion, and over the first 3 days pick a spot I want to sit at for the race and get there early in the day!
