Fielder S rear suspension

Postby etrain » Thu Nov 24, 2011 3:02 pm

My first fact and info finding post

I bought a 2002 Fielder S recently. Only 70000Km on the clock.

Was wondering if, it being a wagon, its normal for the rear suspension to be quite soft compared to the front. Seeing as the Ks are so low, the shocks cant possibly be through already?

the rear shock always crap out, we have a 02 and 06 corolla and both have had rear shocks replaced, both low km's as well.

Lame! - thanks for the reply mate, would have thought the factory ones would last a bit longer than this.

common misconception that shocks last forever when in fact shocks are actually only made to last between 30 - 50 thousand kms 8) not to mention you dont know what it was used for or to tow around in the back in japan before you got it , and the other thing is they are a solid beam rear suspension so dont feel the greatest nor have great response , at the end of the day they are designed to be a work wagon , mini van :)

+1
Always had to replace the rear shocks long before the front ones in nearly all my cars

When ever I have brought a car EX-Japan i always change the shocks, brake pads and tyres as I dont trust the japanese importers, most are dodgy.

Yea I'm kinda thinking the same thing about the shocks. Tyres and pads are OK at this point. The car is absolutely mint in every way but one. What I thought was a crap polishing job turns out to be the start of the roof's clear-coat coming off.

You have to look real close to see it but the tiny white bubbles are definitely there. Luckily only the roof. I think I fell victim to some dodgy "pre-import sprucing up" there. All other panels are fine. Looks like I'll be waxing it more often than normal to prolong the start of the peeling.
