After some internally threaded rod- Chch

Postby crispy'86 » Wed Dec 21, 2011 1:48 pm

As above i'm trying my luck to find some internally threaded rod for a little tool i'm lookng at making. Ideally if it's cheap enough to do so make a crank installation tool for motorbikes saying i've stripped one. Haven't got much else to keep me entertained while i'm off work so gave this a thought. M10 x 1.5 thread pitch and about 140mm long. Was thinking blacks but not sure they have internal threaded stuff only externally threaded rod. Any suggestions where i should look/try?

Im guessing you wont find any, you have to make something, wouldnt be hard unless you need it threaded realy deep for some reason.

What outside diameter can you get away with/does it matter? Can make something up easy as

That i have yet to figure out and confirm the actual thread. Ive got a feeling it's maybe more like M8 but will have to work out this, along with outer diameter of it and sleeve to put it on. Like an idea is to have something 50mm approx outside diameter and something like 12mm on inside but, as i said it needs some more thought.
