Front Air Dam

Postby KinLoud » Mon Dec 26, 2011 9:05 pm

Hey - planning ahead for my racecar aero
Id like a front airdam I can use/adapt

Any suggestions where I caould find a suitable bumper/bar

It needs to be pretty square so it suits the old school square toyota shape of my carina

Thanks

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

in japan ae92 bumpers are quite popular on carinas... not quite square, but they do it?
When in doubt, down and out.

The front bumper on my race car was originally an AE82 GT Sedan bumper.

Yeah - Ae82 is more square than ae92

The ae92 is quite rounded which doesnt quite work I think.

I've seen a few vans (Hiace) etc with a pretty square front kit...
But couldn't find pics online to give an example.
It would be nice if it was a production item or pretty common kit so it's easily replaced when it gets ripped off by going backwards over a ripple strip!

Theres many a carina picture on banpei.net if you look through their Carina sightings thread (even features RomanV's Carina, and the last drive of the one you had with the cockroach in it - I believe you dubbed the video Carina's last drive )

Just a couple pictures off banpei:

I personally think you should roll something like the last picture

But in all seriousness I think something like picture #3 is similar to the aero on the skyline you posted and might be closest to what you want. Although you may have to do some digging as to what it is comprised of - its potentially custom

Yes I agree some hiaces have square front kits.

Something subtle like this might work?

I'm waiting for this one to transform... the green bit looks like part of it's chest place. :P

More than a few on the roads here.
However most seem to get the kit ripped off on speed bumps etc

I've got the fibreglass front lip that Glenn had on the front of his, prior to the AE92 front if you want that...

Pretty easy to make the front end of the car look yuck, dont like many of those above.

That white one with colour coded AE92 looks like a VR4 :P

I reckon AE92 front is the way to go, but just need to make sure to pick the right one, there are many variations!

Davy's car looked awesome with black AE92 front.
