I'm thinking of painting my garage floor as there are a few small cracks and dents / chips etc which I would like to cover up and fill in.
Is it a difficult process?
One issue is no matter how often I sweep the floor, it still seems dusty. Is there a good way to prep the floor?

Theres a good thread on Oldschool about it...acid wash is the best prep by the looks, then a good quality epoxy floor paint to seal it all up.

Interested in this also. One day in the distant future I might clean/sort the garage and would be nice to paint the floor if it's DIY-able. Too jew to pay the $$$ my mum did when she got hers done. Was sick of my cars leaving oil stains

Not cheap, but it's probably more aimed at commercial situations so is good quality. I wouldn't have a garage without it now. No matter what you spill, it just wipes off. Pretty tough too as I drag the jack around without damaging it.

Most paint brands probably have a product for the job. Just a case oh shopping around as it's spendy but worth it as clean up is so easy.

Spirits of salts is the name of the acid etch you want. Easiest way to scrub it on is using a yard broom. (Not a plastic one)
And yeah like most painting stuff, it's all in the prep.

We painted the workshop floor at work and what a difference , the place is much lighter and as mentioned the floor cleans up real easy. The welding bay is the only place where it has worn off and that took the better part of a year , we used resene 2 pack stuff . the 1st coat just soaks into the concrete , looks dull and marks real easy , put the 2nd coat on though and it's shiny and damm near unmarkable .

Cool - I'll have to sign up for old skool and have a read.
$$$ wise is it expensive (to do myself)? Other then a Corolla, a couple boat engines & car jacks everything is off the floor so I don't imagine anything overly heavy duty would be needed.

The floor on the extended part of our garage didn't turn out that successful. when we laid the floor couple of hours after it started to rain so the skin flakes away leaving some of the stones in the concrete exposed. Would painting it give it a smooth layer on top of this or do i have to use epoxy or the like
