Its amazing how two sets of councils are so different. Ruapuna can operate every day of the year, well into the evenings some time. Some of the residents get a bit pissed with the noise, but they can't do much at all, because the council backs the CCC. Ruapuna has only been in its current spot since the '50s.

Western Springs operates what? Once a month for what six hours on a Friday night? At the most? The regional and local council need to grow some balls and tell the residents to stop bleating. There would be a whole lot more ratepayers enjoying Western Springs than there would be complainers.

What will those residents complain about next. Maybe the zoo next door will have to keep its lions muzzled so they can't roar!

Yeah that's the problem with levels too, when they were having resource consent issues the council was nowhere to be found,
and so they were left with,
5 Sunday a year,
Never on a Monday,
Not allowed to run 3 weekends in a row
and heaps of other stuff.

may have something to do withe the fact that CHCH Council actually owns Ruapuna raceway.

The Auckland regional councils paid 2.2 million dollars to Arpass headed by Colin Dale to come up with the idea that Speedway is not a good option for Western Springs. What do you think????

If you voted for Len Brown and his cronies you can have a little pause for regret before signing.

Latest I heard is the park may have shifted to Ihumatao next to Stonefields. Other side of airport.

Done.

I don't get these people - you move next to a staduim / race track which has been in existance for 80-odd years and then complain about the noise?

Unlike Eden Park (I don't feel much sympathy for their residents either) Western Springs hasn't really changed all that much.

This is stupid, it is like buying a house right next to motorway, and lobbying council to put speed limit to 30kph.

Yeah back in '09 or around there.

Also isn't Puke in a similar situation with noise?

Every now and then when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction we get the odd plane fly over our house on the way to the airport.
Do you think I could put a submission into the Civil Aviation Authority to have the planes diverted well away from my house?

No I think the issue you need to ask the council to address is the wind changing to that direction

It wouldn't matter if there were a million submissions, the council would still um and ahh about it.

I signed it anyway, incase a miracle happens.

I *censored* hate the low life's who move in to areas where they are well aware there is going to be noise (speedways/racetracks etc) and then proceed to complain until they get their way, which they do most of the time as no-one has any balls anymore.

I have plans, when i win billions in Lotto, to buy some land in Strath Taieri or around Middlemarch area (somewhere where it's only farmers who live near) and then build a racetrack of my own and buy enough land around the area than no-one can move close enough and complain about the noise.

I'd plant the whole border in trees and maybe have earth embankments too.
