Shipping wheels

Postby FST4RD » Sun Jan 15, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi all... been doing some searching on Toyspeed, I am sure there was a thread recently about shipping wheels, but after an extensive search I can't find it.
What is the easiest and cheapest way to get a set of wheels from Te Awamutu to Christchurch?

Thanks :)

Its probably because they aren't coming from a main centre. I had 4 wheels sent down on a pallet to a business address Auckland to Christchurch $100. Redfern Freight delivered it.

Te Awamutu isn't a main center?

For $228 I would rather drive up there and get them...

You've obviously tried all the main companies like Mainfreight, Daily freight, etc first for quotes ??
Obviously they would be cheaper from a main centre to here, anyone here with hook-ups in the freight business would be good. If they put the wheels on a pallet and wrapped/strapped them on securely enough they'd be cheaper. Sent a gearbox up north and cost me about $50 on a pallet through mainfreight. But just thinking if it was to a main centre or not

I had four 35x12.5x15 offroad tyres picked up from Whakatane (TM sellers work) to Wellington depot through Mainfreight.

It was pretty pricey at $180ish. Strangely the price was no different if I got them to deliver to my house, I asked why and its because they work in zones and my house was in the same zone (15min drive away).

I got a quote from shipmytrade and it was hopeless... $358!!

They were heavy though, each tyre is something like 36kg!
