I would recommend them too.

I would NOT recomend.

2 $&#$% is enough. PM me if you want details.

Northshore engine reconditioners on hillside are good to deal with, took me through the whole build and showed me everything as it was done (maybe due to the fact that I work next door) Reasonable price and fair turnaround time.

I remember picking up a CA18E head from Dodsons, it was reconditioned and full of sand...

Yeap. Then they got their assessment buddy to assess the damage, called me a boyracer and blamed it on me. LOL!

I would be looking for the common denominator in your engine issues.

1st one was a freshen up, which I then killed by not having the remote oil setup correct.

2nd one was due to a tuner

3rd one was built incorrectly.

4th time lucky?

Another luke warm response for Gleye and Parlane.

Have done a fair bit for me over the years and the quality was always great, no comebacks or complaints, but stopped using em as they just stopped being user friendly.

and that means ALOT when you're dealing with a re-conditioner

+1 for parlane. Just reco'd my 7m for cheap as and did a mint job by the looks of it but the head gasket I supplied failed :(. Had my head reco'd at Gary's and he charged me $1k and only supplied stem seals so didn't bother taking the bottom end there, oh and considering I worked there for 5 years and he charged that much, get a quote first. But basically parlane were super good

Perry at Gleye and Parlane does all of my work and I've never had a problem. He does an A1 job and gets it out the door at a reasonable price.

When your block or bare head gets machined your should ALWAYS clean it with hot soapy water just incase theres a bit of shizzer in it somewhere

I must've poured some sand into the engine, because I don't really like the JE pistons,my Trust TD06SH, TTE head gaskets. Engine must've installed itself at AVSC and Aaron out at Greenlane. Those shotpeening that I requested must've undone itself too. How magical.

BTW, your boys are a bit slack in the "oh I can't be bothered to undo that camber bolt, so you'll just have to live with +0.20 camber mate" department. PM me if you want details.

dude seriously :? you didnt want your bottom end rebuilt when they told you that i should be opened up and checked but you didnt want to pay the money , you only got the head resurfaced , hardly a rebuild , im not going to argue with you on here but you are stretching the truth abit . And if you had a problem with the boys work why didnt you bring it up ? :?

Lets not ruin a good thread by bringing unrelated stuff into the thread Akane.

If opinions are going to be shared about companies, then posting up the FULL truth, whatever that may be could be wise. Otherwise it would be better to just not post.

Tip to toe means what exactly? To me that says full rebuild.

I walked in with 3 of the 4 bores all scorched, I asked them "okay I need this to make 450hp, what do I need?"

They said "well your bores are all fuct so you need some bigger pistons.

I said "alright, what else"

and then they said "well you'll need a full rebuilt.

I said "Sweet, I'll get back to you",

Nek minnit, paid $1700 for a set of JE 0.020" over forge pistons from shore performance.

Bought TTE head gasket
New turbo
ARP head studs

I showed up with the parts "will this do?"

Then I was assured with everything is under their control.

Before I hand over the cash, i asked them "will this handle 450hp?"

Exact quote from the engine builder "as strong as an ox", exact word for word quote.

I have also asked for shot peen rods and knife edge crank, didn't really happen when I tear down the engine afterwards.

If this is not a full bottom end rebuilt, the engine must've been made from some kind of organic regrowth material, because sure as hell the scorched wasted bores was machined down to get a proper surface back.

"Dude seriously"
Dude seriously, how did they put the JE pistons if they didn't open up the engine for a full rebuilt. they kind of jumped inside there through the spark plugs magically?

I brought the problem up with them, their face changed and denied all responsibility. But they "know an engine assesser" which they'll get in.

A half ass printed report of "the engine self destruct because due to lack of care from the owner"

So I was like "ok then", brought the head to Cylinder head shop, Gary showed me "look at this, this is all sand, look at the camshaft journals, all ruined from sand in your oil system".

PS: Tip to toe as in, I brought in a full short block with 3 of the 4 bores all scorched with 0-0-0-80psi reading across all 4, from an exploding CT26, I want a FULL REBUILD. *EVERYTHING* to get the engine running again, I can provide all parts needed.

I specified I want 450hp, hence the reason an ex-anthonym Trust TD06SH with modified wastegate to do the job. Cams will be done later at a later date, but unrelated. Head was not damaged in any way but was under G&P's posession anyway, and all checked out to be OK by them.

So you might ask "Why bring the head to Gary at Cylinder head shop afterwards?"

Because I got hold of an ex-matty 1990's engine to replace it, and it's a 7 stud head while I have a 9 stud head, I want to swap it over, so I gave it to Gary to check things out, and it turns out the head was TOTALLY FUCT FROM SAND, all the journals have scorched marks from sand being in between the camshafts and the journals and digging deep marks in them.

To be fair an ox is prolly only 1.29874hp. So way off 450hp

But yea. That sux.

Yeah I learn from my mistakes in a painful way, all I hope for is others won't get ripped off by G&P, great if you have had good experience with them and they remembered to clean out the sand in your engine, grats. But do not accuse me of lying, I might not be a great mechanic / car enthusiast but if I screw things up I will admit it.
