Phat beats and out-of-luck crooks. Again, read the Disclaimer first.

The New Zealand Security Association "Star rating" system is now beyond a joke.

Dynatron are no longer listed as being "Star rated" even though they still comply with AS/NZS alarm/immobiliser standards. Autowatch have also been removed.

This seems to be quite misleading as both alarms (as well as Cobra) still meet with insurance approval.

I get the impression there will be a big shake up soon as things can't go on the way they are, so be warned!
I'd also suggest that anyone purchasing an alarm immobiliser check with their insurance company to be on the safe side first!

Good to see some of the companies taking a stand, hope the right people actually take notice though.

Thanks for pointing out the broken link! Doh!! I've now edited it.

I'm hoping the right people take notice to, all you can do is try!

Any update on this situation? I'm now in the market and having been a dynatron fan before, find this situ most interesting.

I'd just ignore the star rating really as it doesn't really mean much. It would if the issues mentioned a few times were resolved but I doubt they have been. Star rating or not for Dynatron i'd still buy one today. Whole star rating system is worthless in its current form so go with a brand you trust / that is well known and you'll be right.

Except if it's required for insurance you don't have a choice.

May as well put this up here to bring it to everyones attention.
I'm not sure exactly what is happening with the NZSA star rating system. It maybe dead, or the MTA maybe taking it on (I've made a phone call but they have not got back to me!)

As the blog shows the NZSA are being as pathetic as ever. Feel welcome to send your emails asking WTF is going on to Greg@security.org.nz or Info@security.org.nz as they have failed respond to me!

Anyway my membership has now expired and certificate has been burnt
