To be honest I am amazed Nissan is joining seeing as they were all but broke in OZ.

And before people rant on about the GTR etc, it wasn't as good as claimed and it wasn't banned for being too fast so don't even start :P

Have heard this rumor before. Good to see the ozzies letting in some new blood. Will start to become entertaining again. Any ideas what Nissan is bringing in to the series?

I have too. But ignored it due to Nissans situation.
It'll be a Maxima. As to what engine. It will be a quad cam V8

Isn't that a word for word copy of the numerous reports of Toyota entering?

Needs a bit of fresh life breathed into it.. especially with all the manafacturing dropping out of Auz being a bit of a threat to the series.

Says to be announced tomorrow, will believe it when I see them on the track. From the sounds of it there will be $&#$% all "Nissan" or any other manufacturer in it with a control chassis and potentially a control motor. Sounds like serious competition to me.

Yes, waaay too much control. But that's what happens. Classes like Group A cost manufactures too much so they bail.

There is none, because the GTR raced in Group A. Not the V8 Supercars

They did suggest in the car of the future unveiling that there is the possibility of nissan and chrysler joining the series, that was back in November/December

Will be pretty awesome to see a grid in a few years consisting of:

Chrysler 300c
Holden Commodore
Ford Falcon
Toyota Aurion (IS-F dream?)
Nissan Maxima (Really? Not Leopard/Gloria? Or does this mean the new Maxima will be FR? *jism*)
Hyundai (perhaps? If they evolve the Genesis/Veloster into 4 door option?)

etc etc

Heres hoping it happens... variety of horny sounding V8s is always good news. Even better if it leads to Japanese manufacturers producing V8 FR layout "sports sedans" in a more cost effective way/for poor people in third world countries like NZ :D

Why would it change the racing though - unless it introduced new drivers, its still going to be similar cars racing with the same breed of drivers.

But this isn't a bad thing, IMO if you get over the ford/holden thing (not an issue for me) and actually watch the racing there is some pretty good driving in amongst it.

Having some different badges there would make team rivalries a bit more interesting I spose, but wouldnt change the racing that much I dont think.

Agree with Rev about control - definately needed in Oz, or costs will spiral and manufacturers will leave.

Re the genesis isn't it already a four door (genesis coupe is obviously two door)

Its one of the best series in the world imho, and im certainly no v8/ford/holden fanboy.

The racing is so exciting, and argy bargy, whats not to like?

It leave WTCC in the dust thats for sure. Who wants to listen to low revving diesels and FF chassis's, with the same team locking out the front 3 places at most races?

Watching the OZ v8s in person is stunning.

Go the Giz, this is his year hopefully :)

Um no..... makers will not make rwd to racing. In v8s. The rules allow fwd to run as rwd.

Gloria leopard etc are not sold in oz or anywhere they race.
