I heard a rumour that Nissan was likey to use the infiniti M/Nissan fuga as their entry or an altima as a replacement for the maxima, as the maxima is being phased out.

Nissan Maxima (Really? Not Leopard/Gloria? Or does this mean the new Maxima will be FR? *jism*)
Hyundai (perhaps? If they evolve the Genesis/Veloster into 4 door option?)

Heres hoping it happens... variety of horny sounding V8s is always good news. Even better if it leads to Japanese manufacturers producing V8 FR layout "sports sedans" in a more cost effective way/for poor people in third world countries like NZ

Um no..... makers will not make rwd to racing. In v8s. The rules allow fwd to run as rwd.

Gloria leopard etc are not sold in oz or anywhere they race.

Really, I found it exceedingly boring. Clone cars chasing each other around the track, and it is moving to even more cloning. Who want's to watch a badge race? Might as well watch Nascar.

In reality, How many classes of racing arent clone racing though?

Formula first are clones, formula ford are clones, formula holden are clones, TRS are clones, formula 3 are clones, formula 3000 are clones, gp3 are clones, gp2 are clones, indy car are clones etc etc etc

I know that irrespective of what a car looks like, Im watching it for the racing, not what the car looks like.

NZV8's were/are carb'd, not sure how they fit in now with the supertourers or whatever they are that came out with the 7L motors

Nascar has close racing, lots of crashes, lead changes all over the place and multiple drivers are capable of winning any race. So how are V8 Supercars the most competitive series in the world?

Its pretty easy to have close racing and loyts of accidents if you race 40 times a year on ovals

But note the qualifying gaps are similar to NASCAR. often entire field covered by a second or 2. Top ten often within 2 10ths

Which in iteslf is even more impressive than Nascars close field, as for the Oz v8's to race around a cucuit with multiple braking zones and corners and still be within 1 or 2 tenths over a lap, is super super competitive.

was awesome. Turbo fwd vs N/A Fwd vs RWD N/A vs RWD Turbo.

Yes, being a fan of nearly all forms of motorsport, I watched nearly every round of the WTCC last year, and while it has a mix up of cars, imho it has nothing whatsoever on the Oz v8s when you take into consideration the difference in size/weight/sound etc.

Its still a good series though, I will admit that

Nascar is awesome when you stop and realise that you've got a field of v8's sitting at up to 8,000rpm for hours on end.
