That TRD thermostat is beyond belief.

Don't forget we are in NZ. Dealers are pretty sharp on a lot of things. Often cheaper to go genuine now. Certainly a good chunk of the time Genuine < After market as far as quality goes.

Trd parts yeh really really expensive.

but that's said Toyota dealers are pretty good on most of these small wear and tear products.

Don't expect to get cheap interior and exterior parts for cheap tho. so expensive.

I will check the vacuum line to the brake booster tomorrow.

how do you check the one way valve?

Should be able to pass air through it one way and not in the opposite direction, if you can valve is stuffed. Also check the hose has no cracks or brittle parts at the booster or especially the manifold. Even the fitting screwed in the manifold

If it revs up when you brake then the valve is fine and the booster is stuffed, the entire point of the valve is to let the engine suck the air out of the booster and then keep it under vacuum. Revving up means it is sucking air past the seals in the booster.

Yeah, will likely be a torn diaphragm in the booster. I have a spare if yours is the PFL type, which I assume it would be.
