Removing rear windows fron van

Technically nothing to do with toyota, But you guys are so damn knowledgable and have given great advice every time in the past, So I thought I would hit you up again.

We have recently procured a 1991 ford econovan and want to remove the rear side windows in order to patch up some rust.

Any one have any handy tips of how to get these things out? I got one out using a screwdriver, but the second one is being a bit more stubborn, and to make matters worse it is hidden behind a set of cupboards that I would really rather not remove.

if there is anyway of removing them from the front that would be freaking spectacular, but otherwise, any tips that will help me along the way would be great.

Is it just rubber seals?

If so, you usually have to do it from the inside, push string into the inside of the seal to pull it off the frame. You can then usually push the whole window out as the seal is barely holding it in with the string inside the seal. Never done one of those vans though so not sure.

Yep they are just rubber seals, got the first one out by SLOWLY going around on the inside and pushing the rubber through with a screwdriver, a friendly panel beater got is started for me though, and the second window seems to just pop straight back to its original position when I start trying to poke it through.

This string trick sounds interesting. by string do you mean some kind of semi rigid rope? Do I just jimi it in however I can to start with and then thread it through? or do i kinda just fold it under the seal on the inside of the rim so that the rubber is ready to pop through with a stern push?

Any more descriptive details (or a link to such instructions) would be freaking awesome.

Good stuff except that they use the rope for installing the new window and actually cut it in order to get it out :/

Am I to understand that the procedure for removal is similar except reversed? So you thread the rope from the inside and then pull the rope from the outside?

As for removing, put the rope inside the inside part of the seal, push window out. Putting the rope in releases the seals grip on the window frame making it much easier to push the window out.

Just do what we did at new years. 2 people in boot of L300... Reversing, we were jumping up and down and my mate driving thought he'd hit the brakes to makes us stop... Oh we stopped alright... Through the back window....

By some miracle it didn't smash tho, ten mins it was back in
