removing a sc12 from 4agze

Postby mlewis » Sat Feb 25, 2012 11:43 am

Hey guys just need some advice, whats the best to remove intake and exhaust off a 4agze? and replace with turbo manifold and non tvis intake?

also have to fit a power steering pump and mounting bracket and some other bits and pieces.

Would it be easier to remove engine to do work required or just as easy to leave in? any lil secrets or advice would be much appreciated

Just leave it in place, I've done about a dozen turbo conversions on them,

S/c has a few fiddly bits to get to
i usually remove everything including vsv's and vacuum lines etc

Bottom s/c mounting bolt is usually a right cu#t thou,
14mm head from memory, use a single hex socket amd extension and get from drivers side wheel well,

Yes for the time it takes to remove engine i could pretty much strip out all the s/c related bits

I usually jack the car up and put-on stands so Its at a nice height to work on,

Id start on draining coolant, then removing radiator and intercooler,
then exhaust manifold and front exhaust section

I pull the wiring loom off the top of engine anc hang to the side,

Id then remove the powersteering amd a/c if thats not going to be used.

Remove throttle cable, and hang to the side,
Remove fuel rail with injectors

Then i start on the intake side, remove the s/c outlet and start removing the s/c

Something along those lines
