as per title, running factory boost on a disco potato, would it lean out in place of a ct20b on a factory ecu??? the disco potato is a slightly smaller unit than the toyota ct20b???

i pulled error codes....

12 - dizzy/starter
34 - fuel cut from overboost
41 - tps sensor????
54 - intercooler water level or pump

Not sure about your CEL codes... but GT2860RS is a "bigger" turbo than CT20b, which would lean out an cause excessive knocking (especially on stock ECU, which is MAP sensored and worsens situation).

Are you sure you haven't got code 51/52 for knock sensor?

Possibly there is also 34?

Are you sure about your CEL codes?

Yeah, wrote it down as i saw it, but doesnt look consistent with numbers that should come up...

The cars overheating again (was good when i put the alloy radiator in, now gone back to its old ways)

Just did another radiator test, couldnt get the fluid to change colour (hydrocarbon test)

Just before I get the engine pulled out to check the head gasket... I want to make sure that it's absolutely necessary,....

Where should I put the money.... Into an engine rebuild, or into a Link G4????

Will cost $1000 just to pull the engine out and put it back + the rebuild...

if BHG then you have no choice, you will need to fix BHG.
What I would suggest is doing leak down test first.
If the car is overheating is a tell tale sign of BHG, especially if all other aspects of the cooling system were looked at (thermostat, radiator, water pump, etc).

The gasket and set of head bolts will set you back ~$300, you can do it in the car (I did it before).

If you want to run a different turbo on ST205, there is only one choice in terms of ECU - aftermarket. don't forget to add another ~$1000 for tuning. Running random turbo on a stock ECU is just asking for trouble.
Proper engine rebuild (is it necessary: Does it use oil? Excessive blowby? Cracked pistons? Noisy bearings?) will set you back at least $2000 (if not DIY).

Little bit smokey at times, but I never have to top up my oil its always full from change to change, used to burn oil with CT turbos because they have shit seals....

May aswell do all engine seals, bearings, gaskets and pistons/rings if need be...

It overheated on the factory turbo, and we couldnt diagnose any faults except at the exact same time the CT also blew its oil seals, thats why I went garrett (was on 2nd CT turbo), I picked the one that would be closest match to the CT20b in terms of power output and flow. I figured there was no way it could lean out 540cc injectors that (hear-say) apparently run full duty cycle over 15psi
