I've always wondered if it's more efficient to fill up with fuel rather than put $20 in at a time. I normally do the latter - sometimes $40.

In my mind, if you fill up, you're carting around a good 40-50kg, which is bad - BUT - if you only put $20 or so in at a time, you're using more gas when you start every time you pull out of the gas station.....

Thoughts?

I just chuck $30 in when the needle hits the 1/4 tank mark and dont really care how far it gets me.

Only once - but that was because we were in our campervan and playing the 'how far can we get the needle to bend around the E stopper' game....Had a spare 10L in the back so it was all fine n dandy

After a year of carrying around all that extra weight, I bet you un-necessarily burnt an extra 60L of your precious 98

Most of the time I fill it up when it gets to 1/4, if I'm low on funds then put in $50

I always fill it right up, normally when the fuel light starts to flash on, saves too many trips to the petrol station.

Used to fill it right up as I would drive 80km a day but now $30 week as I drive 2-3km a a day average and a bit further in the weekend.

I live in Christchurch so I fill up every week regardless of how much or little I have used. You never know what is going to happen, also have a wad of cash for the same situation. That and I like keeping track of efficiency of my daily runner.

I fill them right up. If you're that worried about fuel economy that 20-30liters is the difference between being able to afford to run your car or not - perhaps it's time to get a Prius.

Same as me was 45 mins from work now 6 mins from work and our building backs onto a servo so just top up when getting the milk and bread means no time wasted.

This. I like to keep it above half at least, generally $20 or $30 at a time.

drive around, empty light comes on meaning 8L left in tank. Make a trip to gull when possible.

Fill Up.

Today, car drank 43.1L had traveled 579km

=7.4L/100km. Blacktop FTW. (No i don't drive it like a Nana)
