Best oil to use - 2JZGTE

Hi guys

My cars due for a service and was wondering what the best or recommended oil i would use for my 2JZGTE vvti which has 160k's on the clock.

Do i stick with 10w30 or should i go with something different because of the higher k's?

I got a workshop manual and based on that and also on the cam cover there is a sticker recommending 10W30. But most synthetic oils come in 5W30 now. I think 10W60 would probably be ideal.

stick with the 10/30 man. its what toyota suggest. 10/60 is probably custard.

15w40 for everything!

You'll find its probably recommended anything from 5w30 to 15w40 depending on what sort of climate you live in. 10w30 or 15w40 will be fine either way.

Penzoil do a 25w60 which isn't really that thick to be honest. Not something you'd run in a new car though.

Unless your engine has been built with different bearing clearances, stick to what toyota recommend. And definitely dont go higher on the W rating, if anything, go lower.

Agree 15w40 or 10w40.

Motul Htech 100% synthetic FTW, and its only like $60 for 4L.

fark, 60 is pretty damn thick...

If you look at the specs the 10W60 is not that thick. Once it gets into 120+'C range it should be just right (while other oil becomes too thin). But I agree, it is too thick for A to B style of driving. On the track on other hand it is very good.

KV is basically viscosity.

looking at the table 0w40 looks very good for normal driving, and this is the one I would suggest using (if $$$ allows).
