Trackday interest

Postby tsoob » Mon Mar 26, 2012 10:49 pm

Hey...

So after the weekend I think that the brand (platinum wheels) Is now ready to take on a track day..

What kind of interest is there out there for a day at pukekohe, and or Hampton Downs..?

Format would be open trackday, and a superlap competition at the end of the day, fully timed and classes so cars are fairly evenly matched.

Would do a full day inc lunch and prizes etc.

Thanks

I'm with Reith on this one, I won't attend a track day in Auckland just due to how far to travel it is. Taupo is feasible for both cost and time, Auckland not so much.

I would be keen for either Puke or Hampton Downs.
I've done Puke so I'd rather it were Hampton

Taupo is a bit far
Manfield is worse

Maybe if there were Wellington or Taupo based stores then it would make sense to go somewhere central to the country - but seeing as there's only an Auckland one.... :P :P

having gone down to manfield for one track day, id rather it was a little closer to auckland. hamton downs would be perfect, but taupo is doable.

looking at costs and availability pukekohe is more likely as I say at this stage its purely in the concept stage and will know more over the next 2 months.

Hehe as long as I keep in the economy zone, its actually cheaper to run now that its got a snail strapped to its side, rather than it was when it used to be NA. Its tuned to just under 16:1 on low throttle so it really is super economical to cruise at 100kph.

On the track...not so much ;)

I spent almost $500 on gas going to taupo and back for the gtr elite day in january so I would hate to think what I would spend going to the 09.

I cant wait to hit hampton downs sometime in the future though.

I hope everyone that goes to this day has lots of fun :)

I'd be keen in my current Mx5 if there are no requirements for a roll bar (like with Playday on Track events).

I'd prefer Hampton Downs- What would be the price difference between the two?

I always find it interesting how very few Aucklanders will travel to events located out of Auckland. Its 278K's (according to google) from Auckland to Taupo, yet 371K's from Wellington. Yet Wellingtonian's are more happy to travel. Despite having more constrictive roading on the route there and a longer distance.

Not having a dig. Just saying.

Yes I appreciate that you get close to the chlymidia capital of NZ, but I'm sure Palmy is not far from that reputation :p

Anyway, we should keep on topic >>>
