On a side note, having owned a type R, I recommend you go and take a nice tidy well maintained example for a run. Surprisingly fast (unless I'm still under the illusion of vtec) but it's a pity that so many are neglected and just don't run as they are supposed to.

I'm not so sure about the 130~140kw though. Mine was dyno'd by previous owner at 120~kw with full mugen I/H/E and msd coil on factory computer.

Oh and I''m pretty sure most honda brakes are interchangeable as in a straight bolt on. Lots of people use euro r brakes i think, rich people in the states use nsx brakes.

Mine dyno'd at 130 with the words rangiest cat replacement (thanks previous owner) but yeah as has been discussed on here before dyno readings mean stuff all.

From a racers point of view I would first look at what class you would be in at various events and what would be competitive.

Honda's are very reliable and competitive in most events, all you really need to do is strip them out and off you go.

Personally I would take the STI, it will be a lot faster on most club sport events and will be cheaper to repair when you crash it.

I have not driven a GT4 for over 10 years but from memory it was nothing special at all, felt heavy and slow compared to an EVO or STI, maybe they come into their own with a bit of weight reduction.

Best weight reduction is starting with light chassis and avoiding ST185 entierly.
ST165 weighs 1300kg stripped out (front factory seats retained). I believe ST185 is extra 100kg. ST205 should be similar to ST165.
It is no where near evo1/2 (which are around 1100kg), or STIs.
Hondas are around 950kg (for Civic) and 1050kg for Integra.

A lot less weigh results in no need of huge brakes. (factory TypeR brakes are sufficient for track day), also can run smaller tyres.

Problem is the ST165 is from the middle ages and its chassis is a limp biscuit in comparison to the ST185 or 195 and would need a cage to get some stiffness.

Sometimes light weight is useless, modern cars are heavy but they are 1000% stiffer and in the corners this matters… or when you hit a tree/fence/cow/bridge.

IMHO you are better starting with a more modern chassis and stripping weight, the weight normally comes in the form of trim and safety device removal anyways and the actual chassis is still quite light, as an example my front seats out of a 2006 car were near 40kg each vs 9kg for my race seats.

Yep.

I remember blitzing a S14 down the quarter in my ae111 as they fell asleep at the wheel (won't name names :P) so clearly that proves they are slower.

I stand corrected, st205's are much faster than sti's
