Mum is looking at a new car...

I know there's a lot of Euro love on these forums :lol:

, but thought I'd seek out some opinions anyway. Looking at a new Golf Cabriolet. Here's the actual one they drove yesterday...

i myself dont enjoy the way those DSG equipped cars actually drive.

guess it might take a bit of getting used to.

We have 2011 VW Pasats, and 2012 polo's as work cars, DSG is balls :evil:

Who cares about problems when its a new car .3 year warranty !!!

Yeah, factory warranty is a plus. Peace of mind for those 3 years.

good thing about any new car is that YOU know the service history unlike Jappa imports that never get serviced ....EVER

load of horse shit. Average New Zealander services their car? Bhahahaha. Only for new cars while it is in warranty.

I would rather have an import than average NZ pre-owned car.

A lot of people are really good at getting their car serviced regularly even out of warranty. But like Sergei says there still are a lot of people who don't (or worse, think a warrant is a service :lol:

)

thats why I said if "YOU" buy a new car you know its been serviced.
If you buy a second hand car its not new hence cannot trust without a service history.

You are correct about some people not servicing thier cars Just had a polo GTi come in for engine noises turns out the customer hasnt had it serviced since he got it 35000kms ago new.You cannot help some people :roll:

But anyway willdat try vask.co.nz for advice they are just a normal golf with a folding roof and I have seen very few issues in the last few years since the hardtop ones were released.

cool car, nothing wrong with the DSG that example Segei linked is just that, one example. Most never fault.

The golf engines are pretty good too.

new car warranty is all very well while its under warranty. unless you are replacing it every three years however...

i do like the turbo diesels.

trouble with servicing is lots of people are used to old stuff which you can kinda get away with being lax about it. new stuff not so much.

The appeal is new 4 seater(ish) convertible for under $60k...in this case way under! It will get (if they end up getting it) Volkswagen servicing on schedule for the duration of ownership...probably 4-5 years.
NZers are unusual with service histories. Most will pay no more if it has one than if it has a new container of oil in the boot.
