engine hoist borrow, porirua

Postby jacobrjett » Fri Apr 13, 2012 1:04 am

hoping someone on here could lend me an engine hoist for a day or so, and then again after a few weeks/month/or two depending on how fast my funds come in for my rebuild (ill try and get a second opinion on the state of my motor but im pretty sure its rooted, and i think at 220,000kms its due for a rebuild soon anyway)

me and my cousin stott69 from here going to pull my motor out of my BZR to pull it apart and see whats wrong with it, and get it prepped for a rebuild. then after a while and i got the funds going to take it on a trailer to get rebuilt then i will need to borrow it again to put the motor back in

could possibly do with an extra pair of hands if anyone wants to get their hands dirty and have some pizza and beer, im kind of hoping to do it on saturday the 21st

You can hire engine cranes. I had trouble finding someone on here that had one or willing to lend one out. Hire quip has them i think. I can potentially give you a hand next weekend too

cheers heaps matt

im thinking like 12 on saturday? does that suit you guys ill go pick up a hoist on friday. hopefully it will fit in the back of a hatch.

were probably gonna have to carry the motor down to the garage to be stored, we cant work on the car in there because theres a camaro being stored there soon, but from what i read on the internet if the motor is in pieces it shouldnt be too heavy to carry. just a couple stairs

But lifting small things in bits will be fine :)

jesus bloody christ how did you manage that matt?

me and scott should be able to manage but I just thought, if they are heavy, we can put the block and head in the boot off my mrs car and drive it around to the other side of the house to the garage, that would be much easier

ill drain the radiator and oil on friday before hand. by the way is an engine save to be sat on the ground? reading around a bit on the internet I saw some people who sat their engine inside an old car tyre because they didnt want to damage the sump? it was an old v8 engine though, maybe it wont apply to my 4age

only for tipping and the above. Can bring a spare 275 R19 around if you want too. Hoist should be on wheels so just push it round on the foot path

yea sweet well just push it down footpath. my only concern was the path has an incline. we dont want a runaway engine on a hoist to fly down the road that would be a sight lol

Last time I borrowed a hoist from hirequip/hirepool, it was a unit that had to be towed.

can't remember - probably around $50 or something.

I wouldn't put the engine on a hoist and try to move it down an incline. You'd have enough trouble managing it on a small stand.

Pm sent about something.

I haven't used it in about a year and I don't plan on taking my engine out any time soon so it's all good. I would prefer someone used it

do you know where I could get my con-rods "shot peened" ?

i bought some silvertop rods and saw that the guy, i think his name was daniel, who has his BZR on new zealand performance magazine has gotten his shot peened and i thought i might get that done too.
