Fielder 2ZZ spark plugs

Anyone experience these engines?

My brother just bought a 2001 Fielder with one of these engines. Crazy they rev to 8K!

Anyway - thinking of buying these plugs:

NGK BKR6EIX-11

Can get them on trademe for $70....
1:15.4 around Pukekohe
13.63 @ 169kmph at Meremere
Fastest MK3 at Suprafest 08
1G-GTE - Stinger 4424, T04B 60-1, 440cc injectors - 240rwkw @ 16psi

I got a Fielder with this engine in it
They're great, just get the lift bolts replaced - see this thread:

Did mine on the weekend, and surely the inlet one snapped, so I'd recommend taking to a mechanic and getting them done


Also, re: Spark Plugs.
Recently did mine, bought Bosch ones from Supercheap, they were Bosch F8-4, FGR6DQI and $70 for a pack of 4 as well, but didn't get stung for freight, and got 10% off with a trade card too

Ive got two a runx daily and a Allex race car. i replaced my plugs with genuine ones from Mark (Toyota sponsor) they are a little more pricey but you know they are right.

Wouldnt use Bosch plugs, Denso or NGK are the way

Each to their own.
Used Bosch many times, as well as NGK also, and never had a fault with either one.
Same sort of thing as individual preferences with tyres/oils/polish/etc, etc

Bosch is made where? Thailand if you are lucky, usually China.
NGK and Denso are made in Japan. NGK and Denso are OEM suppliers and spark plugs will be perfect fit.

Never buy any plugs until you see what's in there & their condition so you'll know whether a range change is useful or necessary.
Also, never buy steel(copper advertising BS) if you aren't going to look at them again for 50,000, or platinum/iridium if you are.

I've always just put factory plugs in, no problems with running. I just have to remember to change them every 10,000km.

You can't judge the quality of something purely by the country of origin. Just FYI, I know you hate Chinese products, i'm "just saying".

Bosch universal spark plugs, lol.

there are about 40 different NGK plugs that all cross over to one bosch spark plug,
they dont have the range for the japanese market.

We will fit them to merc's or BMW's where the spark plus are visable,
but anything japanese or has the plugs buried under coils etc where they get no cooling we will normally use NGK.

I bought some genuine Toyota OEM Spark Plugs. Copper ones are like $3 each. They are good for 30,000km. Iridium ones around $20 and they last for 100,000km. You do the maths. :P That was for my 2JZ-GTE.

You cant simply swap copper plugs into an engine designed to take Iridium plugs in all cases, you can get away with it in some cases but not all.

And as for Bosch... they belong in cars that came out with Bosch plugs. Aussie stuff and american stuff doesn't always run well on NGKs, likewise with Japanese engines and Bosch plugs.

Spark plugs just have to spark & they have to stay hot enough to burn carbon off the insulator so it doesn't conduct, that's all!!! Different materials control its longevity, how long its gap will remain the same width with out eroding from the arc.

Copper hasn't been used for 70+ years except for a tiny bit placed inside, doing nothing special, that attracts the gullible with 100%BS advertising, cause everyone with 'common sense' knows that copper is a good conductor, so it must be great for spark plugs.

Ummm.... no thats wrong. Different materials and different profiles of electrodes greatly affect how an engine performs, and sometimes if it will ever run or not. A spark doesn't mean ignition will occur in the right way just because there is a spark there.

try putting the wrong plugs in an early 90's RS legacy and se how far you get before it gives problems.
