hair dresser shmair dresser, convertible is amazingly sweet and honestly a revelation in motoring. wish i had clicked onto it a bit earlier.

would swap night with missus for s2k personally. will own one day.

TTs are odd, i have driven a handful. a couple were pretty sad, a couple were decent and one in particular had heaps of go. hussed the front wheels at any excuse to the point of being annoying / slow due to wheelspin. front tugs is fail. they have super cramped cabins too, and hard to see the corners of the car for GF parking excursions.

Ive driven a 2006 Manual Legacy GT-B and currently own a 2004 Legacy GT-B Tiptronic, both quick.

EVOs were a bit out of my budget at the time ($16K), but I find the Legacy a bit more classy and refined, EVO to me carries the boy racer stigma.

I know you said no mods, but a subtech front pipe and reflash on the Rev D Legacy will net you 220-230kw at the engine which makes for a pretty quick car and much better drive than stock.

Manual GT-B in 2004-2006 with low kms will be rare and from what ive seen lately will put you back 18-20K. The Tiptronics are 5 speed and Subaru have really sorted out the tipos now, worth a drive.

i would say depends what kind of driving you like to do. if you're a purist driver like myself i would say stick with NA, nimble etc (s2000) and if you like a bit of boogie between the corners go for a late model EVO or STI. STI's will have quite a different driving feel due to no AYC etc which i've been told takes quite a bit of feel out of the driving, although from my experience 4wd vehicle lack driving feel anyway due to large amounts of mechanical grip..

Big fan actually (I think I'm fairly rare in the sense I couldn't care less whether I drove a ford or a holden).

I know a couple guys that drive turbo falcons; but the fuel bill seems insane even under the most conservative conditions. I'd only get one if a company was paying.

I agree n/a's are more 'pure', but turbos are so much fun. Lag sucks, but at the same time it's great putting your foot down and just waiting for all hell to break loose.

My BZ-Touring was a bitch to drive fast with constantly trying to keep it at high revs.

I imagine a 350z would be cool for the reasons you mentioned - a pure drivers car and I am a total sucker for six cylinders.

the more cylinders the better really, but 6 is a good compromise. they take a few revs too so you can really make them wail.

Depends "better" for what. More cylinders = worse fuel economy due to increase surface area of the combustion chamber and more moving parts.

The 3S is roughly 86x86 x4 => the surface area = 139 411.2 square millimeters
The 1G is roughly 75x75 x6 => the surface area = 159 043.2 square millimeters

Remember there always will be unburned fuel on the walls left after combustion.

Blade are only automatic?

Surely an Evo 7 / 350z / Legacy would outdo a Blade in almost every aspect (to be fair I don't know anything about them)?

And that really depends if you are taking practicality and reliability into account I guess.

Have you looked at version 8 STI's?. Personally i would go STI or EVO

Lag? Its not the '80s anymore.

N/A cars these days have all of the lag and none of the boost.

Rediscovered these last week and has got me pretty interested, may have to try one out and see if its a viable upgrade.

Replaced my Mazda SP23 with one of these recently , they go very well with smooth delivery of power all the way to the speed cut , first auto/tiptronic that I have owned ,
must be getting old because I like it ! , basically these are a small Lexus with leather trim , radar cruise control , sat nav ,and for some reason permanent traction control ?
The ride quality is unlike a Corolla , they do not feel front heavy and road noise is very low even with a 40 profile tyre and aftermarket suspension .
