Why do car makers do things to annoy mechanics!!!

Postby bzrspeed » Thu May 10, 2012 6:15 pm

I had to spend most of the day elbow deep in a mazda autozam v6. I want to ask why did mazda put a crap v6 in a crap car and sell it to crap people who dont maintain it and when lets face it, its a mazda so it will break, it finally breaks down you cant work on it cause they put a crap v6 in the tiny engine bay of a crap car........ Ahhhhhh!!!!!!

L/R steering rack ends, power steering pump, cambelt and the usual crap with it... Took whole day.... Which is crap!!

I hate mazda.....

Why do they do stuff like that? The v6 is too big for crap car as they break cause mazda build quality is same as lada. I am just having a moan sorry but cambelt in normal car maybe $1200 and take about 4 hours to fit, yes? But not in mazda, parts are expensive cause they break so much and so easy. If they made car properly first time then i have no reason to make moan....

A cars final incarnation is decided by accountants, not designers. So they've never lifted a spanner, let alone had to work on a car
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

still doesnt explain the homosexuality of the car. Maybe mazda designers all are homosexuals as they look at autozam engine bay and say 'hmm reminds me of brian'.

I understand but dont like them...

I can't think of a single car with a transverse V engine that is easy to work on. Harden up - cars aren't built for mechanic's.

This - if it's a v and fwd, you're guna have a bad time.

BTW I deal with Mazdas on a daily basis and believe me most are reliable and easy to work on, not to different to Toyotas really.

I rebuilt and swapped an engine into a 4WD V6 Daimante, I wouldn't have said that it was any more difficult than most other fwds, just bigger.

you make joke yes?

New fiats are just like anything, made for people who dont enjoy driving but want to save petrol. Look at punto, its sports model is 1.2l.

I disagree, most fwd cars with v engine are ok to work on, not great but not as bad as autozam v6. I dont think realiable comment wad justified as owner didnt look after. I was angry at stupid people. So sorry

This is the biggest problem, cars were so cheap through the 90's and early 2000's people didnt bother looking after them, and just bought new ones. Even now, NZ people are terrible at servicing cars.

back in polland i owned a old lancia, i serviced every 5,000km and in 10 years never break down. I come here and near new 2000 year models are breaking cause no oil change in long time. Look after and last long yes?

Absolutely, lots of people dont seem to realise that though. Use the cheapest possible oil and filters, and do services every 3 or 4 years....I see this all the time.
I've got a KE70 wagon that we've had in the family since 1992, which has been serviced every 5000k's as well (was a company vehicle prior) and has done over 315,000k's now. Quietest K series engine you'll ever hear.

ya. My lancia done 218,100ish miles, dad owned since new in 1983. Very hard to own car back then, lots of rules and needed goverment approval to own non regular car. We look after alwayd. Never break down. Make me sad that new zealanders do not like thier cars, i am sorry forget word in english, like respect but begin with a. Anyway you forgive me for rant as i was upset and annoyed yes?

Still dont like mazda, i hear wankel engine going bap bap bap bap all time, make me feel sad, they spend all that money on a engine with no pistons when they could have brought a better car. Engine make funny noise and not good design.

Yes sir when was your car last serviced?

What do mean serviced?

You know, change the oil and stuff.

Oh that, I think they did that for me when i bought it.

How long ago was that?

Um, I think I,ve had the car about 5 years now....

We get that lots at work.

People service there car when it develops a problem,

no problem, no service.
