AE111 Mirror Wiring

Postby andrewgreen1000 » Thu May 10, 2012 3:27 pm

Hopefully someone can help me out

I recently bought a '97 AE111 Carib. The passengers side mirror the motor is busted, and the motor is seized. I happened to have a set of aftermarket mirrors in the garage which fit, but when it comes to the wiring I'm stumped.

The plug for the old mirror has a red, black, blue, green and brown wires.

The new mirror only has 3 wires, a red, white, and black one.

If anyone, could advise me as to which ones I need to connect together that would be fantastic because at the moment I don't have any of my tools (they disappeared from my old flat), or a multimeter for some trial and error.

Thanks

What features do the aftermarket mirrors have? Do they have power adjustable glass, power folding, or do they simply just have an indicator built into them?

By the sounds of things your original Carib mirror is of the non power folding variety as these usually have 7-wires, which makes things a little easier in your case.

Personally I'd just buy a replacement OEM mirror and save the hassle.

Sorry, should have mentioned that. The new mirrors have power adjustable glass. The old mirrors are powered folding and power adjustable glass.

Hmm, I have a couple of power mirror wiring diagrams here for the AE101 Corolla, but I'm shit at working them out, lol. Can photocopy them and send them through to your email if you like. They show the wiring colours only for models with the factory power tilting glass feature, so should make things a little easier for you to work out.

That would be great, I can't imagine they have changed too much between AE101 & 111's.

Yeah they should be very similar, if not identical. The diagrams are on their way 8)
